The Peg Perego Vela
For the out and about, light-traveling family who prefers a more traditional look and feel, we present a new product for 2010: the Vela (VAY-lah).
Steering and maneuverability are the Vela’s star features, thanks to the three, larger wheels that turn on a dime and streamline movement. But it’s the single handle bar, book fold, and Ganciomatic Travel System-capabilities that truly set it apart from other strollers in the Peg Perego line. Both the book fold and the single handlebar are more traditional features, highly valued by many families, while the inclusion of Ganciomatic hooks ensure the Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 car seat will snap directly into the stroller seat.
And, at only 9.5 pounds, it’s the lightest stroller in our 2010 collection!
Fast facts:
- Travel System-compatible
- Three-wheel design
- Larger wheels for enhanced steering and maneuverability
- Compact book fold stands alone when folded
- One hand fold
- Hinged snack tray with duel cup holders
- Large storage basked
- Included adult cup holder
- 9.5 pounds
The Vela will be available in February/March in four colors: Lavanda (edit: No longer available 12/09), Java, Tropical, Kiwi and Pepper. Please check with your local retailer for availability.

Hi,
Does this stroller work with other car seat? Also, does the seat recline? And if so, does it go all the way flat? Moreover, I am interest to know how much it is going to cost. And it will be great if you can post some video or pic to show how the stroller fold.
Thanks
Charles
Charles,
Peg Perego offers an adapter strap that allows most of our strollers (not including the Skate) to be compatible with most car seats. So, if you have a car seat, and it doesn’t snap into the Vela, then you can simply call Customer Service and ask them to send you an adapter strap.
From what I understand, the Vela, has a recline similar to the Aria, in which you lower or raise it by tightening or loosening the strap. While it does not go completely flat, baby should be ready to be placed directly in the seat at about 4 months (when he/she can hold his/her head up).
Though retailers are able to sell our products at their own price, we’re thinking the Vela will be a minimum of $199.
I don’t have any photos or video of the fold yet, and probably won’t for awhile. But it’s a traditional book fold in which the seat and the back fold together like closing a book.
Closed dimensions are:
39″ high
36″ wide
12″ long
Hope this helps!
Amanda
I noticed the colors of the Vela don’t match the colors of the 2009 Sip 30/30. Will the 2010 Sip come in Kiwi and Tropical too?
Erica,
Thanks for your comment!
There will be 2010 Primo Viaggio colors to match the 2010 Vela. So, yes, the 2010 Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 will come in Kiwi and Tropical….and Java and Lavenda!
Amanda
Do you have any dimensional specs for the stroller? Is it just as wide as the Aria, or slightly larger? Also I read the snack tray is hinged, is it fully removable? I tried my car seat in an Aria and it just fits but would require an adapter strap, so I would like to make sure it will fit in this before pre-ordering.
Erin,
The Vela is a tad bigger than the Aria. It’s dimensions are:
39″ tall, 36″ long/deep, and 23″ wide
Here are its folded dimensions:
39″ tall, 12″ long/deep, and 23″ wide
The aria was: 39″ tall, 33.5″ long/deep, and 19.5″ wide
When folded, it was:
36″ tall, 13.5″ long/deep, and 19.5″ wide
So, as you can see, the Vela is slightly larger than the Aria. And yes, the snack tray is completely removable.
Hope this information helps! Let me know if you have further questions.
Amanda
Hi, nothing mention about the safety harness, is it a fitted or the freedom of movement harness? i am wonder if i hand some shopping bags or diaper bag will it tip over? Peg perego stroller shouldnt tip, tried on several model but thie only with 3 wheels, very concern about the tipping?
Irene,
The Vela will include the Freedom of Movement harness. Also, there will be clips on the back of this stroller that allow you to attach bags to it–meaning it shouldn’t tip over!
Thanks for your comment!
Amanda
[...] Lavanda. A soft lavender is accented by a cool gray for a combination that is both chic and feminine. Purple is entering its second year as a top color, and our Lavanda upholstery reflects that prominence. Lavanda can be found on the 2010 Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 car seat (below), the 2010 Pliko P3 stroller (below) and the 2010 Vela. [...]
the color is so pretty although I don’t agree it is just for girl-girl. I have a baby boy and expecting a little princess 2010. So this color is perfect for unisex, no need to struggle in-between pure blue and pink. Not to mention purple is my favorate color.:)
Three questions for Vela is tri-stroller,
1.foot-step bar balance and strong enough for my 21-mths boy to step in-n-out or even stand on it?
2.what is size for front and back wheel? (I hope back is larger for balance.)
3.Vela is similar as 2009 Aria line, but Vela’s back wheels are single now instead of dual on Aria. Is it sturdy?
[...] Vela will not be offered in Lavanda. Replacing this color will be our new fabric color, [...]
Michele,
I’m just got a blog post up that talks about this, but unfortunately, we’ve decided not to offer the Lavanda fabric on the Vela. Instead, we’ll be replacing it with Pepper–a vibrant red color. So sorry if this interferes with your plans, Michele, but I’m glad you like our Lavanda fabric. It’s still set to be available on the P3 and the Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 car seat . . . just not on the Vela.
But as for your Vela-related questions:
1. The Vela has been tested to hold up to 45 pounds, so it should be fine for your 21-month old son to climb in and out, using the platform above the front wheel (depending, of course, on his weight).
2. The wheels of the Vela are larger than the wheels of the Aria, making for enhanced steering and maneuverability. The front wheel is 6.5″ and the back wheels are 7.5″.
3. The bigger rear wheels help make it sturdy. Granted, strollers such as the Vela aren’t designed for grueling, daily use, but we think maneuverability and makeup of the new Vela will make it a favorite–mall, store and quick-trip stroller.
OMG!! That is really an upset news. I am ready to get one Lavanda Vela and have been sharing many of my friends this lovely item.
Adding on your explaination for detail feature, it definitily is a must buy for me if it comes with Lavanda, lightweight+compact+sturdy, especially we travels overseas.
Pepper color looks awesome too, but I don’t think my hubby will agree to put his boy into it. I want one P3 Pepper for my girl and a Vela Lavenda for my boy.
Hope to hear resume the color on Vela!!!
Huh…didn’t see Pepper color available on P3??
I know another M brand having this similar color selection, but I don’t want to swtich to them yet.
Michele,
Yeah, I’m sorry about the Lavanda color, but I’ll be sure to post something if things change!
I’ve seen the P3 in Pepper available already from some online retailers. Where were you looking for it?
Amanda
Hi Amanda,
thanks. I just found out color PEPPER is actually red instead of dark pink/fuchsia, not as trendy as Lavanda and not go as a set with Lavanda, either.
To be honest, PEPPER is so much alike CORALLO or TANGO that Peg-perego P3 provided before. No wonder I missed it…
Guess I have to pray for Vela Lavanda then.

Michael,
The canopy on the Vela is a tad different than the one on the Si — a little smaller and doesn’t come down as much — but it still does cover quite a bit when fully extended and fits the frame of the Vela nicely.
Hope that helps, Michael!
Amanda.
I have seen some stores already carry the 2010 si, but we are all still waiting for the Vela. when can I see it in NYC? omg enough about the lavender! most of the sites show the Java as a grey? is this right or is it a coffe color?
Also – on the weight. 9.5 lbs? or just the frame. what is the wieght of the unit with the fabric attachements, as is standard in the us to be measured? and what does it have in a carry handle, a strap or side attachment or anything? thanks. MH

Michael,
The Vela is set to be in stores late this month or early February–so that’s why you’re not seeing it yet.
As for weight, the Vela’s materials are all saying it’s 9.5 pounds, and since I don’t have a unit currently on hand, that’s what I’ll have to go with. It could be a few more, but I wouldn’t expect a drastic difference.
The Aria had a carrying handle on the side, so I’m guessing the Vela will as well, but I’m not 100% sure.
We have a number of retailers in and near NYC. If you use our Where to Buy tool, you can look up the ones who have carried our products in the past and ask them if they plan on picking up the Vela.
The Java color is kind of hard to explain, but it’s like a silver/gray that is accented by dark brown.
Okay, I think that covers all your questions. Let me know if I can provide more information and I’ll do my best!
Amanda
thanks. sound awesome. just what I have been looking for to compare with a city mini, but which I dont want to leave open on a floor. and hopefully not as wide, or heavy! and with better storage. Hope it is worth the wait. MH
Hi
Any ideas on the handle height of it?
Thanks
Al,
The handle on the Vela stands at about 39-inches off the ground.
Hope this helps!
Amanda
Have these started to ship yet? Need stroller for end of February trip and very interested in the Vela.
Amy,
I just spoke to sales, and we started shipping these this week!! This means that the stores who put their orders in first will be the first to receive the Vela and it will go on from there.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you!
Amanda
Hi,
I can barely wait to get the Vela. But, why is the pepper available until mid March while the others are available in February? And, does the handle have a positioning feature or is set to 39 inch of the ground? Thanks!
Oh I forgot to ask which rain caver is compatible with the Vela?
Jessica,
Glad you’re excited about the Vela! The Pepper is coming in March because it was a late addition to the collection (it replaced another fabric we had intended on offering). And, to answer your second question, the handlebar does not adjust. It is set at 39′ off the ground.
Let me know if you have more questions!
Amanda
Jessica,
I believe the rain cover for the Vela is similar to the one we had for the Aria. You can order it from Customer Service!
Amanda
Thanks a lot for your information!
Hi, I currently live in Tennesse but I am traveling to Puerto Rico in two weeks. Do you know if any stores are already carrying the Vela? I am due in April and I am really interested in getting one. Do you know if internet sites could have them available already?
Thanks
Karla
How far does the seat go back? Is it as much as the Peg Perego Si?
Karla,
Vela began shipping to accounts at the end of January! From what I’ve seen, some online retailers advertise as having the product in stock. A quick Google search should provide some shopping options. Just be sure to check as to whether the retailer is an authorized Peg Perego retailer. (You can check with me on this, if that’s easiest). Or, if you would like a list of stores in your area, you may use our Where to Buy tool.
Let me know if there’s more I can do!
Amanda
Ruth,
The Vela’s recline is about as good as the Si’s, but it definitely has more positioning options. You see, the Vela’s seat back is raised and lowered using a strap on the back. It does not go completely flat, but we recommend that you’d be able to use it once baby is 3-4 months.
Hope that helps!
Amanda
not yet in NY – cmon!
FYI Michael – I have successfully obtained a Vela (Java color) from Buy Buy Baby. It was transferred from the Scarsdale store to my local store on Long Island. I was told the LI store’s shipment was arriving end of Feb.
Do you know if this stroller is designed for stable use on uneven ground, such as dirt, gravel or grass? Can it be used for light jogging? Thanks.
Amy,
Great question!
The Vela was designed for its maneuverability. The three, larger wheels make it exceptional with navigating twists and turns. I don’t think it would be good, however, for light jogging. And while I could see it navigating grass and maybe dirt, it’s going to be at its best on paved walkways (malls, flush sidewalks, etc).
Our best option for a jogging-type stroller is the GT3 ForTwo…but even that isn’t specifically designed for running as much as it was designed to tackle a bit of off-roading.
Let me know if you have more questions!
Amanada
Hi,
Is it accurate to say that the Vela is equivalent to the City Mini by Baby Jogger? The reason I ask is I was unable to see a Vela in person and had a chance to see the City Mini and if it is equivalent or better I would like to go with the Vela. My next question is regarding if this would be the right stroller for us. We are looking at having just one stroller (not too light , not too heavy) for average use around the neighborhood, park and maybe couple of trips out in the weekend (no jogging).
Also how easy is it to open/close the Vela? I couldn’t find any information online. If you have any links please let me know.
Thanks!!
Prakaash,
Thanks for your interest in the Vela!
The main differences I see between the Vela and the City Mini are weight and wheels. The Vela is considerably lighter than the City Mini (the City Mini’s weight is more on par with the Peg Perego Si or P3). Because of this, the Vela will be easier to travel with (in the car, etc), but it also will offer a different ‘push’ experience. I’ve never pushed a City Mini, so I’m not familiar with how it feels, but I can only assume that because it is heavier than the Vela, it will feel different. So I think one question you need to ask yourself is whether pushing a lighter stroller bothers you or whether it makes the experience better!
Also, the wheels of the Vela are a bit smaller than the City Mini. Though neither stroller is meant for off-roading, the smaller wheels of the Vela won’t be as accommodating to grass and other bumpy terrain as the City Mini’s. On the flip side, the smaller wheels on the Vela will probably make it more maneuverable in stores, etc. Again neither is really meant for grass and such (and you didn’t indicate that you intended to take it ‘off road’, but it may be something to consider.
As for the Vela being your one and only…that’s hard to say. I really recommend the P3 as Peg Perego’s perfect one and only stroller but the Vela may work for you. It all has to do with what you expect out of the stroller. The Vela is great for trips to the mall and other similar shopping excursions, and the three larger wheels make it a decent option for walks outside, though not the best.
It has a traditional book fold, folding in half like the City Mini except it folds forward instead of backward.
If you can locate a Peg Perego Aria in your area, you may want to check it out. The Vela is exactly like our old Aria stroller, except the larger and improved wheels make it much more maneuverable and super smooth. Just throwing that out there as an option in case you can get a look at the Aria…
Let me know if you have more questions!
Amanda
Hi,
Does the Vela have a one touch break for all wheels like the Pilko P3?
Hope you can provide a video soon.
Thank you.
I’m a first time mother to be, expecting early in June. I saw vela and loved it’s weight and design. I read though that it’s not suitable for newborns which is a disapointment. i would like to ask if one can adjust navetta XL (or a simlar product) on the stroller and my second question is if there is the option for the baby to look at the parent and/or at the world. my last question is when it will beavailable in Greece. Thank you!
I am trying to decide b/t the 2010 Si and the Vela for my 9 mo. old daughter (Idespise our previous stroller- not a peg) Need something compact but good for daily use around town and on trips. Also does the snack try come al the way off on the Vela? Any suggestions?
A. Spanier,
Thanks for your comment!
To answer your questions:
- Yes, the snack tray on the Vela is completely removable
- Though we don’t have a Peg Perego-made video available, I was able to find this video on YouTube. It’s of the Aria (the stroller that the Vela was based off of). Now the fold on the Aria is very similar to the fold on the new Vela, so this video should give you a very good idea of how it goes. Check around the 1:20 mark for the fold.
- The top of the Vela’s handlebar is 39″ off the ground. So, depending on his stride this may or may not be comfortable for him. At their most extended height, the Si’s handles are a few inches taller than this. So, for height reasons, the Si may be a better option.
- Also, knowing that you’ll be traveling with the stroller… you may be interested to know that the Si does fit within the Pliko P3 travel bag. It’s not a perfect fit, but it is an option for the traveling parent. The Vela doesn’t have a travel bag accessory (though you may be able to find a match through a separate company, such as JL Childress).
Hope this was helpful! Let me know if there’s any more information I can provide.
Amanda
Amanda,
I’m undecided between the Si and the Vela. I want an all-rounder, light-weight stroller mostly for shopping but also for walks in the park. What do you suggest? Does the Si come with a handlebar or has to be purchased separately? Where can I buy adapter straps for my Chicco KeyFit 30 car seat and how much does it cost? Thanks.
penelope,
Congratulations on your coming baby!
I’m not sure whether the Vela will be available in Greece or if it’s compatible with the Navetta XL. Please contact Peg Perego headquarters in Italy for more information on our products in Europe. They may be reached at (011) 39-039-6088213. Because I work only with US products, I’m not sure what options you have in Greece! But Italy will be able to help you.
Thanks,
Amanda
Jateen,
Thanks for your interest in our products!
Neither the Si nor the Vela would be ideal outdoor walking strollers, but depending on the pavement in your neighborhood, they may work. Ideally, these lightweight strollers are intended for indoor use. So you’re right on track with the shopping!
The Si is an umbrella stroller that has two separate handles. The Vela is more of a traditional stroller with a single handlebar. The Si comes with adapter straps that may work with the Chicco KeyFit, but we also have a universal adapter strap that would help the Vela be compatible with your car seat as well. This strap is available from Customer Service. I believe all you would have to pay is shipping cost!
Let me know if you have further questions!
Amanda
Dalia,
The Vela has a single brake on each rear wheel assembly that you can activate and deactivate with your foot. The front wheel swivels, but does not have a brake.
I don’t think videos will be available any time soon, but I’m definitely keeping my eye out for user videos…if you go with the Vela (or other Peg Perego product) and have the desire to whip up a video or written review, let me know.
Thanks, and I’m here if you have more questions!
Amanda
Funny, I am also trying to decide between the Si and the Vela. Have a bugaboo cameleon and a Viaggio SIP seat. Basically it would be nice to have something to always have in the car ready to go. Cameleon would be the neighbourhood stroller and this would be our mall and travel stroller. From what I understand, the Vela has a better viaggio sip seat adaptor (clicks in and no straps if I’m not mistaken), Vela is lighter, Vela has a tray…Si has a raincover included, folds more compact and has nicer colours (I know that one is subjecive). Wife and I are both not tall people (I think the Si handle bars can be adjusted higher then the Vela). I know a few of you were also debating between the two (Si and Vela) anyone care to sway me one way or the other?
I have tried the Vela and loved it!!! However, I’m waiting for the Pepper fabric to be available, I’m having a girl and love the red color. When will the Pepper be available??? I see all other three except for the Pepper. Please help!!
[...] have quite a few questions lately, asking me to differentiate between the Si and the new Vela. Both are lightweight. Both are deemed “travel-ready” strollers. Both are considerably [...]
Karla,
Thanks for your interest in the Vela!
The Pepper upholstery should be available some time in March. It was a late addition to the fabric collection, which is why it’s running a bit behind on this model.
Hope that helps! Let me know if I may be of further assistance.
Amanda
I see a lot of posts about color…but I just have to ask if there are any plans to bring back the lavanda later this year? Next? It was really my favorite being unique and not like all the other colors out there.
thanks
Alisa,
Thanks for your interest in our products!
The Lavanda fabric won’t be available on the Vela this year or the next. However, it is available on the Pliko P3 and the Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 infant car seat. So if it’s really caught your eye, you may want to consider upgrading to the P3. It’s a great stroller that is easy to travel with and more accommodating than the Vela for outdoor walks.
Let me know if you have additional questions!
Amanda
Hi! I was wondering if you knew what the seat dimensions were. Also, what is the measurement from seat to canopy? (I have a tall 2.5-year-old, so I need to make sure he’ll fit.) Also, does the canopy extend further than the pictures show? Thanks.
Julie,
Hey! I believe I responded to your email on this on Tuesday, but in case something happened and you didn’t get it, the Vela’s inner seat dimensions are:
Width: 11″
Front of seat to back: 14.5″
Seat to top of backrest: 18″
I’m double-checking on the dimensions for the seat to the canopy and will get back to you.
The canopy does extend further than the pictures. In the photos, the canopy is neatly zipped closed for style. But you can unzip it and it comes way down.
Another less-expensive option would be the Si. The StrollerQueen wrote up a nice review of this, and put a bunch of dimensions at the bottom of her post.
Let me know if there’s more information I may provide! I’m here to help.
Amanda
I jut order the new peg perego Vela and I’d like to know which car seats are compatible besides the viaggi. Does the combi shuffle and the chico’s fit are compatible with the peg Vela?
ok – finally got a vela – through buy buy baby! nyc.
it is supper light, so much so that it worries me. not just the lightness, but also that it tips backwards very easily ! this was a big fault of the maclarens and I am not happy about it. that is even without a bag on the hnadle bar, and with one it is done! on the lightness one salesman said it is probably made in china, is this true?
also no foot rest, like the si has. and no adjustable handle bars.
the wheels are also very thin, although wide. they are thiner than the si wheels, are they going to last?
and I have to ask – this stroller takes a real beating every time I open and close it because it sort of is a one piece snap open and shut unit, is it made to take alot of shaking and also the new york city streets?
- the good things about the vela are that the suncover extends all the way forward even when the seat is back, while the si did not open all the way when seat was fully reclined. and the seat in the si or the vela can be put in a more upright position than the unsupported city mini. the vela is about three inches less long then the city mini. the vlea closes in to suitcase shape, like the city mini so is very portable!
But, It is as wide as the city mini, not as strong or stable and the wheels are not as big or durable, and it tips backward. did I buy the wrong stroller? help!
I just ordered the vela and I like to know if the vela is compatible with other brand car seats that I have ( like the combi shuffle, chiccos and the maxi cosi)?
Luciana,
I don’t really know exactly what other car seats are compatible with the Vela’s ganciomatic hooks, because we don’t test our products with other car seats. However, I do know that since the Vela has the Freedom of Movement harness, you’ll be able to use our universal adapter strap with it. This strap isn’t as convenient as using the hooks, but it will allow you to consider almost any other infant seat. I’m not sure about the Shuffle, but I do believe the strap will accommodate the Keyfit.
If helpful, you can call Customer Service about using the adapter strap: 1-800-671-1701
Thanks, and let me know if there’s more information I may provide!
Amanda
Michael,
Good to hear from you again!
But I am sad to hear you’re having some frustrations with your Vela. It’s never fun when that happens, so I totally understand and am with you on this!
Rest assured that the Vela is made in Italy. But it’s also primarily intended to be an indoor, shopping stroller. In NYC, could see it being handy on public transportation, but you may find it’s not always going to be the best choice when walking long distances outdoors. This is because it really is so lightweight. Again–great for the mall, not so great for bumpy sidewalks. Now, I don’t know much about their products, but from what I do know the BJCM isn’t the best for outdoor use either. It’s similar to the Vela in that it excels on indoor shopping trips.
So, if outdoor walking is your intended use, I think that yes, you maybe need to consider another stroller. Perhaps you could look into the Pliko P3. It will be heavier than the Vela and a bit bigger, but it’s built for longer walking trips.
I suggest going into Buy Buy Baby and seeing if they can take a look at the wheels and the fold. They know the product pretty well and will be able to identify if there’s an issue and also assist you in getting to know your stroller. They also may be able to look at the fact that it’s tipping. We haven’t received any complaints about this, so it makes me wonder if maybe something’s going on with the stroller.
And you’re always welcome to contact Customer Service. They may be reached at 1-800-671-1701.
Well, keep me updated if there’s any way I can help or provide information, Michael! I’m at your service.
Amanda
cant get over the tipping. may consider the si – what is the difference between the 2009 and 2010? thanks. is a better storage basket available? a tray with cups or faly surface for the baby? thanks. MH
meant flat surface- sorry
Hey to help with the tipping issue, all you need to do is buy a 1 or 2 lbs ankle weight and have it tie to the stroller leg, this will help prevent the stroller from tipping back wards as there are some weight at the front.. i used it on any lightweight stroller esp macleran.. it works fine and i still able to hang some lightweight bags on the handle, no tipping when i lift my child from the seat..
Michael,
Yes, the Si may be better. The only difference is the 2010 model comes with a detachable bumper bar. The 2009 model doesn’t have this.
Did you see Irene’s comment above? I know that’s not ideal, but it may be a possibility if you decide you like the Vela. Just wanted you to be aware!
Amanda
Irene,
Thanks so much for your input!
Amanda
sorry Irene – looking for a light weight – something I can carry up and down subway stairs, etc. MH
I purchased the Vela 6 weeks ago and today my 13 month old tipped it over. The one wheel in front doesn’t provide enough support/balance. He was strapped in, wheels were locked, and I was right next to him watching my other son’s baseball game. All of a sudden, there was a loud thud, the stroller with my baby strapped in, was on its side! I picked it up and he had a huge bump on his head. Very disappointed in Peg Perego. I have been buying your products for 10 years (including other strollers) but this just isn’t safe!! What is your policy on refunds/replacements. I can’t put him in this stroller again.
Adrienne,
So sorry about this!
I know that you were able to get in touch with Customer Service about this … so, if there’s more we can do in the future, please let us know.
I’m on the blog answering questions sporadically throughout the day, so if you have an urgent need, Customer Service is probably the way to go.
But please do let me (or Customer Service) know if you have any more questions or concerns!
Amanda
I was going to purchase the Vela today for my 12 month old, but reading the above review about 13 month old tipping over makes me very concerned… Did it tip over because the weight of the Vela is not evenly distributed if the child moves/leans forward in it? Is it really safe???
Ruby
Ruby,
Thank you for your post and your interest in the Vela. The Vela is safe and has passed all mandatory and voluntary testing, including a tip test. You may have had a chance to see one in person already, but if not, the Peg Perego website includes a store locator where you can find a store near you. Simply go to pegperegousa.com and you’ll find a “Where to Buy” link. This is a great way to test it out and see if it’s the best stroller for your needs.
Hi, my wife and I have a Pepper on Back order – but a baby expected in a few weeks! Are you able to provide an update on expected availability for the Pepper Vela? We have seen the expected date slip out a few times and would like to have a sense of how likely it is it will ship within time.
We have bought all red stuff, so it would be a shame if it wasn’t an option for us. P.S. We tried a Vela in a store and liked it very much for our purposes.
Zach,
I just got word that a small shipment of the Vela in Pepper has arrived from Italy. We’ll be sending this product out on a first come, first served basis. So, if your retailers was one of the first to place an order with us, they’ll be one of the first to receive. Please check with them periodically over the next week to see if they’re expecting the stroller.
Otherwise, we’ll probably receive small shipments here and there over the next few weeks/months.
I’m very sorry if this has caused frustration! But please check with your retailer for a solution if the stroller isn’t available in time.
Let me know if there’s more I may do!
Amanda
I recently purchased a tropical Vela from Buy Buy Baby in Dallas, only to realize two days later that one of the fixed wheels had a full crack in the spoke, near the axle. Needless to say, I returned it, but was told it would be 2-4 weeks before they had a restock, and they had no way to give me an ETA. So – I’m not necessarily impressed by what I’ve seen thus far.
Also, I must mention that the box my Vela came in and at least one tag on the stroller itself indicates that it is indeed MADE IN CHINA. Not sure how this squares with your assertion.
Frankly, I would be surprised if it was made in Italy. Designed, yes; manufactured, no.
MY wife and I purchased the Vela and the infant car seat. We were recently looking at reviews and found that someone had said their 13mo had tipped the unit over. After looking and the Vela again, I am concerned about the Freedom of Movement straps with a toddler leaning over. It would seem that this could be unstable. Is there an option or recommended method for fixing the straps so they can’t accidentally lean too far forward or over the side increasing the risk of overturn. This is our first baby and my wife really wants a super light weight stroller as she is going to be using it most and has back issues. Any help or advise would be great. One of the salespeople from BBB said you could either sow or fabric glue the plastic strap holder to the back of the unit. I don’t know if this is a good idea or not or if I am just being a little too paranoid to begin with.
Thanks
Doug
Marvin,
Yes, some of the Vela’s components are made in China (like the wheels), but the main stroller component is manufactured in Italy. I apologize if this has caused frustration.
I’m also very sorry about what happened with your Vela. Would you mind sharing what color you had ordered?
Amanda
Amanda, it was the tropical color.
Thanks,
Marvin
Doug,
I totally understand your desire to have the safest, most easy-to-use product. However, I don’t think it’s a good idea to sew or glue the harness. Doing so may affect the performance of the stroller, and this includes its safety performance as well.
We’ve received one concern from a customer regarding their Vela tipping. I’m not sure whether this was an issue with the unit or the result of some other factor (we’re still waiting to receive their stroller so that we can test it). But I DO know that the Vela meets all voluntary and mandatory testing. And if you would like to read more about our Freedom of Movement harness, you can visit here.
If the Vela truly worries you, then perhaps it would be good to consider another stroller. As a rule, 4-wheel strollers feel more stable. And that can mean a lot when you’re a new parent!
I hope this was helpful, Doug. Let me know if I may be of further assistance.
Amanda
We have the Vela and the sales assoc from BBB said that there was a foot muff that snaps onto the stroller. Is this a Peg Perego accessory or is it another brand. Also, in the description for the Vela it shows that the Tray with dual cup holder hinges open and closed. We haven’t taken it out of the box yet, but I don’t remember that being the case. I thought that it just lifts up and off with two clips.
Can you please verify this for me. Thanks!
Doug
I am wondering if you can tell me if Babies R Us is going to carry the SIP 30/30 in Kiwi as well as the Vela in Kiwi in their stores. I see it on their website, but I would like to see it in the store before buying it.
If they are going to carry it in store, do you know when you are going to start shipping to their stores or any other stores in the area of 07430, NJ. Thanks
Laura
Laura,
I’m checking on this for you! I know that many times, Babies R Us only carries select colors in store, but then offers the full fabric collection online.
I’ll get back to you soon,
Amanda
Doug,
We don’t have a foot muff accessory for the Vela available in the States, so I assume they were referring to one from a different brand.
The snack tray is removed by lifting up. However, it is also hinged, so you have the option of lifting one side of the tray and swinging it upward.
Hope that clears things up! Let me know if you have additional questions.
Amanda
Laura,
The Union Square Babies R Us store in New York is the only BRU store that has the Vela in Kiwi. If you plan to make a trip out to see it, I’d call first to verify that they’ll have a floor model to look at.
Let me know if there’s more I can do!
Amanda
Is lightstrollers.com an authorized retailer? I am trying to find soneone who has the Kiwi Vela in stock! Thanks!
Thanks for the followup! Is there a plan to release any accessories, including the footmuff in the good old USA? There are the snaps on the Vela to connect it. Is there a 3rd party that would use those snaps?
Thanks!
Doug
Kim,
Yes, lightstrollers.com is also an authorized dealer.
Glad to help!
Amanda
Doug,
Glad to help!
I’m double-checking, but I don’t think the accessory line for the Vela will be changing. Sorry about that.
The snaps you see are probably there because the chassis is the same one we sell in Europe where they do have a foot muff accessory. I’m not aware of any third-party foot muffs compatible with the Vela, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t out there. Perhaps your retailer will be able to help?
Hope this was helpful, Doug.

I have the Vela in Kiwi and am very concerned about the way the straps work. My son is very active and every time he leans forward, the plastic piece that tucks into the slit in the back pulls out. He could easily roll out of the stroller due to this problem. I have tried to call customer service several times, but I always get a message that there are too many callers for me to speak with someone. Please advise.
Lauren,
Thanks for your comment!
The harness on the Vela is supposed to be used while detached from the stroller seat. The tab is only there so that it’s easy to put baby within the harness. Then, once the harness is fastened and secure, you’re supposed to remove the tab from the back of the stroller seat. This unique harness is called our Freedom of Movement harness, as it safely gives baby room to lean forward and see the world! If you look in your manual, you should see an explanation of this.
I’m glad you checked with me, though! It’s always good to double-check when something seems off.
Amanda
I just received my 2010 Switch Travel System and love it but cannot figure out how to attach the crotch strap cover. The shoulder strap covers easily velcro around the shoulder straps, but it does not seem like there is any way to get the crotch strap cover in place. Has there been a change to the size of the buckle in the 2010 model? It does look a little different than what is shown online? Will a cover that works be issued?
AB,
The harness on the Primo Viaggio ES (the seat that comes with the Travel System package) is a bit different than the harness on the Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30. If you’re having trouble, please contact Customer Service. They’re skilled in helping customers understand our products. They may be reached via email or by phone.

Amanda,
I bought the Vela from babies r us recently. So far, I like everything about it except a small design flaw that bothers me alot. The problem is that every time I fold the stroller, the carrying handle gets in the way and prevents the stroller from locking. It looks like the handle is designed to fall vertically when the stroller is open, but in that position you cannot fold the stroller all the way. Instead, I have to move it out of the way manually everytime to lock the stroller.
Is Peg Perego aware of that??? Do they have a fix for it???
Ali,
I haven’t heard of this problem, but I’m forwarding your comment on to Customer Service. I’m sure you’ll hear from them soon!
Amanda
Hi Amanda,
Just received the Vela and have been testing it out prior to babies arrival. There is a lot of shaking / wobbling even when pushing on a flat indoor floor. Does this sound like there might be something wrong with the wheels? Do you offer alternative wheels (with bicycle tire rubber) the might reduce shake and offer better outdoor stability?
LD,
Yeah, it sounds as though something may be wrong. I passed your comment along to Customer Service. You should be hearing from them shortly!
Amanda
I have a three year old and an 8 month old. I was looking at the Vela for the 8 month old. Is there a kick plate accessory for my three year old that is compatible with the Vela?
I recently purchased the Vela for my 9month old to take on vacation. She has already taken many naps in it. She is very petite & loves the Freedom of Movement & is able to reach the snack tray with no problems.
Pros: lightweight, storage basket, turns on a dime, larger canopy, snack tray
Cons: the canopy gets in the way when folding & need to move it so the handle will lock down(annoying-prevents 1hand fold), front wheel should be weighted more to prevent easy tipping, fabric is not attached at sides (where snaps are that no accessories are avail for in US) & seems with wear will start to sag & look shabby, front wheel does look like it is whobbling alot but doesn’t seem to affect ride.
Also, for those having a hard time finding colors in stock–BuyBuyBaby has all 4 colors in their stores.
Rachael,
Thanks for your interest in the Vela!
Are you referring to a piece that goes down by the footrest? We don’t offer an accessory like this, and I’m not familiar with anything compatible that you could get elsewhere.
Hope that helps! And if I misread your question, let me know (It almost sounded as if you were asking about a rear footboard to allow your 3-year old to ride along. If that’s what you were referencing, then no, we don’t offer this as an accessory for the Vela, but this feature does come standard on our Pliko P3 and Pliko Switch strollers).
Thanks!
Amanda
Thanks so much for your review, Nichole!
Amanda
Hello, I purchased the Vela in Pepper, and so far I love it. I mainly use it for the mall and it rides so smooth. I have a Graco car seat and it fits great, and with the staps that Peg Perego send me, it feels very safe. I am going on a trip next month and wanted to know if there is a travel bag that is compatible with this stroller to protect it during my travel?
Karla,
Glad you like the Vela!
We don’t have a travel bag accessory for the Vela, but perhaps JL Childress has a product that would work? They manufacture gate check bags and other travel-type bags that accommodate strollers and baby gear. You can check them out at http://www.jlchildress.com. If you don’t see anything that will fit the Vela, you can always email them. I know they take custom orders.
Hope that helps!
Amanda
I saw the Vela the other day, and I just love it! I’m taking the family to go try it out this weekend. One concern I do have is that someone has posted a review in regards to the stroller tipping, while her son was in it. Obviously, this concerns me, and I was hoping you may be able to shed some light on how many reports you may have gotten on this. So far, I found that the same person posted her review to many many sites. I would think that Peg Perego does some good testing before putting a product to market. Thanks!
Eliz,
We definitely do testing! All of our products are put through rigorous tests to ensure they perform as intended. The Vela passed each one.
You’ll be happy to know that apart from that one customer, we haven’t received any complaints or comments about the Vela tipping. While the customer may have received a faulty stroller, there is also the possibility that the incident was the result of user error. That’s why it’s so important to read through the manual after purchasing any baby product.
So, go ahead and try it out this weekend! And let me know if you have any additional questions.
Amanda
Hi, I see the the Vela isn’t available in Lavanda anymore yet I seen a ARIA in Lavanda on the Peg Perego site. Is it possible to order that model I seen on the site in the US or are they different due to regions? As much as the Pepper color seems nice I do prefer the ARIA design in the Lavanda…
Thanks in Advance!
Laura,
We don’t offer the Aria in the US anymore (we replaced it with the Vela), but we do offer it in other countries in the Lavanda fabric. So, that’s probably what’s going on.
Here, we just have the Vela and it’s offered in the four colors: Pepper, Java, Tropical, Kiwi. The Aria in Lavanda isn’t available.
Thanks!
Amanda
Is there a video review for the vela? Thanks!
Every time I go over a curb or something the front wheel lifts out of place. I know there must be a way to lock it in place but I can’t figure it out. the only lever i see locks the wheel so it won’t turn.
help!
Lisa
HN,
Unfortunately, we don’t have a video demonstration of the Vela. Sorry about that. If you’d like to see the Vela, you may consider calling your local retailers to see if they have one in stock. We have a Store Locator that can help you in this process. Our products are also available through Toys R Us and Buy Buy Baby.
amanda
Lisa,
Just for some clarification, the wheel lifts out of place as though it’s going to fall off the stroller? If this is what’s going on, please check your Instruction Manual to see that the wheel was installed properly when you assembled the stroller. If everything looks good, please contact our Customer Service department, because there may be something loose. Customer Service may be reached at peregoservice@perego.com or by calling 1-800-671-1701.
Hope this helps!
amanda
Thanks Amanda! I think a part was left out because I can see where the wheel is supposed to be held in place. On the hinge there’s a series of small holes that look like they should be connected by a metal piece or a long screw. It appears that the piece is intentionally removable for compact storage. Thanks for the customer service number!
Are any of the peg perego strollers (most interested in si or vela) compatible with Evenflo Embrace car seat? Because of space restrictions in my backseat I must use this particular car seat, but I know I won’t be happy with any other brand of stroller (this is the 6th child and I’ve had every other kind of stroller; the 12 year old Milano was the only one I loved).
Hello,
My wife and just received our Vela in Kiwi, along with the car seat. We are excited to use them in a couple months! I have two questions:
1) When opening and closing the stroller, are you supposed to keep the handlebar lever pulled back at all times, or just initially until the safety hooks are released?
2) There are two snaps, one on the inside of each armrest, that don’t appear to have anything that attaches to them. Can you tell me what these are for?
Thank you very much!
Austin
Marietta,
Thanks for your interest in our strollers!
We haven’t tested our products with the Evenflo seat, so I really don’t know the answer. I’d say the best thing to do would be to try it out in real life at a local retailer. You can search for a retailer in your area by using our locator tool. Then, give them a call to see what Peg Perego strollers they have in stock and also ask whether they have an Evenflo car seat in stock. If they have these things, then you can head out there and try the seat out with the stroller.
My guess is that it may be easier to fit it with the Si, since the Si uses adapter straps with all car seats. But it’s still hard to say for sure.
Hope this helps! Let me know if there’s more information I may provide.
amanda
Austin,
I passed your message on to Customer Service. If you don’t hear from them today, they’ll probably get back to you on Tuesday. If you like, you may contact them directly via email or by calling 1-800-671-1701.
They’re very skilled at helping users understand how to operate their stroller. So, I’m sure they’ll be a big help with your first question.
As for the second question, I’m pretty sure the snaps are attachments for our European boot accessory. The boot isn’t available in the US, but the snaps still appear on our strollers.
Hope this helps!
amanda
We just found the PLIKO P3 ON TRACK MODULAR at Peg Perego’s web site but it’s not available at any USA web site, would you tell me if it will be available soon?, thanks.
Antonio, from Texas USA
Antonio,
The Pliko P3 On Track Modular unit isn’t available in the US, and I don’t suspect it will be made available next year either.
Because we’re international, and because user needs and demands vary from country to country, we sometimes offer certain product to some areas and not others. It’s really just our attempt to best meet the needs of whatever demographic we’re working with.
Sorry about this, Antonio. Feel free to contact me again if you have any additional questions.
amanda
Amanda, apreciatte your help. Thanks for your help.

Hi,
Can you tell me if it is possible to purchase the fabric (only the fabric) for the vela?
Thank you.
Annmarie
Annmarie,
Yes, we have fabric for sale through Customer Service. They may be reached via email or by phone at 1-800-671-1701.
Thanks!
amanda
Speaking of fabric, do you know if I can get a replacement cover (the fabric only) for the primo viaggio infant car seat? We bought one for our soon-to-be-arriving son, but I want a replacement cover for the entire car seat to have as a back-up. I can’t seem to find them anywhere.
Jill,
Replacement (or additional) fabric may be purchased through Customer Service. CS can be reached via email or phone. Their number is 1-800-671-1701.
Amanda
Hi,
Do you know if Vela is compatible with Primo Viaggio SIP 2007 Car Seat (model number: IMCC00US35BP53RU46). It’s not SIP 30/30 so I’m concerned if it’ll fit.
Thanks!
Monica,
Your Primo Viaggio is a SIP 30/30 model. So yes, it’ll be compatible with the Vela.
Thanks!
amanda
Hi,
what is the maximum baby weight officially supported by the Vela? I think one of the previous post says 45 pounds, but I cannot find any reference to this on the official website. I have also read elsewhere that the max weight supported is 30 pounds?
Also, does Vela have the soft fabric or the leatherette option available either directly or as replacement fabric?
Thanks!
karen
Karen,
Thanks for your question!
In the US, all of our strollers, including the Vela, have a 45-pound weight capacity. This number may vary in different countries, which is why you’re getting conflicting numbers. But since I only work with US products, I can only supply US-specific information.
We do not have a leatherette option for the Vela. The only fabrics we have available are on our website!
Thanks! And let me know if you have additional questions.
Amanda
Hi, I have used my vela about 10 times, and the wheels are already squeaking! Today I went to the mall and it was one of the most stressful trips because it was really noisy. Would you suggest greasing the wheel? I didn’t expect a $200 stroller to have this problem so early in the game….
My Vela is tipping as well and has trouble getting over even the slights uneven pavement or bump in the road. It tipped over at the airport and the only 2 items in the stroller were my daughter and her and a small stuffed animal. I was mortified!! Luckily I caught the stroller before she slammed her face into the concrete. I was in tears! I guess the freedom of movement harness is great…unless the stroller tips and your child is eating his or her own teeth. I hate to be so harsh but I can’t believe this hasn’t been recalled since I’ve seen quite a few people complain about this. As well, this stroller weighs more than 10 lbs as advertised. No where does it say 10 lbs frame only. Why would I only need the frame? The purpose is to fit a child in there and once you include all parts for the stroller…its more like 16 lbs. Very frustrated!
Tottie -
So sorry about this! I forwarded your comment to Customer Service. If you haven’t heard from them today, you can expect to hear from them early next week.
Amanda
I’m really concerned about all the reviews saying the stroller is tipping over easily. Has the company addressed this issue?
I am almost on the verge of getting the Vela looking at the specs. But, since there have been two posts here on tipping for a newly launched model, I would like to know if Peg Perego has been able to find the issue with tipping. The main reason for me to buy this stroller is that it’s lightweight, but would certainly avoid it for my first born if tipping is an issue. Can you post the updated details?
Also, can you confirm if I can use a Primo Viaggio 2010 model car seat with a 2008/2009 Aria stroller as that stroller model seems to be far more stable?
Thanks.
A. J.
Thanks for your interest in our products.
We’ve only received a couple calls/emails about the Vela tipping. In each instance, we asked for the customer to send the Vela in to us for it to be looked at, but unfortunately, the customers did not follow through with this. Consequently, we don’t know whether the tipping was a result of user error or if there was a problem with the stroller. Or maybe even a combination of the two.
With any lightweight stroller, it is imperative that you avoid putting bags and other items on the handlebars. It is also important that you do not take it places where it was not intended to go. The Vela was designed as a mall/shopping/errand stroller. So you can see how using it on grass and bumpy terrain would maybe affect its performance.
I can’t speak for those who experienced problems with its performance, but I do know that when used properly the Vela has proved to be a wonderful stroller for many families.
If you are looking for a product to be a bit more accommodating of hanging bags and rougher terrain, I’d suggest considering the Pliko P3 or the Si.
Amanda

As to your other question, yes, the new Primo Viaggio is compatible with older Aria models.
Thanks!
Amanda
Thanks for the reply Amanda.
The reason I asked the question about compatibility between older Aria stroller and car seat, is because I have a Aria Rubino MT (2006 make) and 2010 Primo Viaggio. The 2010 car seat model does not fit the 2006 stroller at hand. Was there any change in Aria models between 2006 and 2008/2009?
Nish,
I spoke with Customer Service and they said that it will fit, but that it’s a very very tight fit. This is due to a slight change in dimensions over the years.
If you want, Customer Service would be more than happy to help you learn how to affix the seat to the stroller. They may be reached at 1-800-671-1701.
Thanks,
Amanda
Amanda,
Thanks for the prompt responses. However, I switched to Si instead of Vela.
Thanks,
Nish
Is there an update or has anyone found a stroller and/or carseat travel bag that works well for the Vela? I love the travel system! My husband works in the Middle East and we will be traveling by air a lot. I want to make sure I protect the stroller and car seat from damage; the JL Childress bags are not substantial. Also, I will travel with the baby by myself most of the time, so I would like to find a bag on wheels. Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated!
Laura,
Have you tried asking this on the http://www.windsorpeak.com message board? Those ladies are always very helpful!
amanda
Hi,
I was reading through the comments here since April 2010. I bought the stroller about that time, and because it was a new edition stroller I was a bit concerned but also I loved that it was lightweight. However, here I am 4 months later, unsatisfied and unhappy with that beautiful looking stroller, but very annoying and unsafe.
1. It is impossible to steer the stroller on glossy surfaces, especially on malls. Front wheels turn sideways and start dragging thru the surface. To solve this annoying problem, I have to tip the stroller backwards a few times until the wheel settles. This must be done almost all the time when trying to change my direction. However, every time I was doing this, due to the freedom of movement set up, and stuck wheel at the same time, my baby hits his head in the plastic frame on the side. I am forced to stop the stroller and kick the front wheels into position.
When baby was younger, that means weighted less ( 10puond or so) it was easier but still difficult to steer, but now it turns to be a nightmare.
We went to one of the baby r us stores, to see what they can do, although we bought it from a different store-justkidsstore.com.
http://www.justkidsstore.com/- there customer service is very poor and unreliable, however Baby R US maintenance personnel checked it and advised that the front wheels was out of alignment, bobbing up and down from suspension connection poorly made with four bolts only. He commented he has never seen such a poor and unsafe connections between frame and front wheel.
Even if repaired/ exchanged after some used it will still need to be replaced due to poor connection and it is prone to fail again.
That explained why it is difficult and almost impossible to steer the stroller.
2. The freedom of movement innovative restrains allow the infant/child to lean over left-right front, which elevates the steering problem, due to added weight to the front wheel.
3. When trying to climb sideways, after crossing stoplights/ streets it becomes dangerous due to all the weights to the front wheels and same not willing to turn to direction of movement, and it becomes struggle to move the stroller with traffic behind and cars honking.
4. When stroller’s backrest is in full down position there is a slight leaning to the left due to longer strap on the left side…very poor design for an expensive stroller. Baby usually leans to the left and I am afraid of a future back problems due to awkward position.
I wish there was more helpful reviews the time I bought the product, but because it was very new on the market, not many people had owned it back that time.
Aneta
Aneta,
I’m sorry for your frustrations! I’ve forwarded your comment to our Customer Service department. You should hear from them shortly.
amanda
Thanks Amanda,
I talked to them already, they were very kind to provide me with additional information. I brought the stroller to the service center, they exchanged the whole frame of the stroller for it was out of alignment and the front wheel was in very bad condition. However, I am still having issues with the stroller, that’s why I spoke with Peg Perego again; they were very kind and helpful again.
Even the stroller is not one of the best, ( I am sorry to say it straight, but it really did not fit my needs for a lightweight stroller, though I loved the design) I am happy with Peg Perego Customer Service Overall. I am considering to get another lightweight stroller, maybe Si model, but still overview it. So far good info and reviews
Sincerely,
A.
Hi there! I am looking into buying peg perego vela but I can’t find it in any local stores to try it with my baby. I have a question – is the back firm ( I can’t have a soft back due to my daughter condition) and also is the sit firm? Many strollers have very soft sitting part. How deep is the seat? I can’t buy for my daughter the stroller that has deep sit. What would be the peg perego model with the shortest sit depth and firm back? I am buying instantly! THANKS!!!
Kasia, mom of Amelia
kasia guzy,
I’ve talked it over with some people here, and we feel the P3 would be a better stroller. It has a more firm backrest, and the seat is less deep than our other stroller seats. The Vela wouldn’t be good because the backrest is completely fabric.
Since the P3 is a more popular stroller, you may have better luck finding it in store. You can use our Store Locator to find retailers in your area: http://us.pegperego.com/babyproducts-site/where-to-buy-service-centers/
Let me know if you have additional questions!
Amanda
hi there,
i’m expecting my 6th in march (B”H) and have the peg perego car seat from my previous child.
i’m looking for a peg perego stroller (i see no reason to buy a ‘snap-and-go’ if i can have a stroller that i can use past the carseat period.)
i’m an active person, which means more strolling outdoors in the park and streets, rather than in shopping malls. i thought about the Vela since it’s design looked like a sort of jogging stroller (i don’t jog, but walk briskly) but now i’m not sure. which peg perego stroller would you recommend for my needs (will handle all-terrain, not too heavy, easy to maneuver.)
thanks so much!
Anabelle
anabelle,
Thanks for your interest in our products and congrats on your coming baby!
Although the Vela can handle some outdoor strolling, it’s really not the best option if you’re going to be doing a lot of walking through parks and such. You’d really need more of an all terrain stroller to get the best possible ride. Unfortunately, we don’t sell our all-terrain stroller in the USA. It’s called the GT3, so if you happen to be located in Canada or elsewhere, then this could be an option for you.
But if you’re located in the US, then I’m not sure there is going to be an option that will meet all of your criteria. Ideally for outdoor walking, you’d want a stroller with larger wheels. This feature will help it handle bumps and jolty terrain much easier. The Skate System and the Uno are really the only USA options that fit this large-wheel style. They also have single handlebars which will make outdoor maneuvering a breeze.
However, they’re full-featured strollers, meaning they’re going to be heavier.
You can look into the P3, but I’m afraid it will be too loose for constant outdoor strolling.
Sorry I can’t offer a for sure solution … if you have additional questions, I’d be happy to answer. Just let me know!
Amanda
hi i had bought vela stroller but i dnt know how to adapte a bussinet for a just born baby
is it possible_? or not¿
thanks
ivi,
The Vela does not turn into a bassinet and you cannot fit a bassinet on it.
In order to use it with a newborn baby, you must use the Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 car seat. This seat will attach to the Vela using the hooks that come out from underneath the seat cushion. For more help, please call customer service at 1-800-671-1701.
Let me know if you have more questions!
Amanda
Hi,
I’m just looking through your 2011 catalogue and was wondering why you’ve switched the vela back into 4 wheels? What are the differences between the 2010 and 2011 models?
Sarah,
We changed to a four-wheel model simply because we believe it offers a better all-around experience for the user. Typically, strollers go through an improvement phase after they’re first introduced, so that’s what’s going on here. It’s just us trying to offer an even better product!
The only difference between the models is the new 2011 one has the four wheels, a different fabric collection, and a loop on the canopy that can hold a lightweight toy.
Hope that helps! Let me know if you have additional questions.
Amanda
Hi there,
i am interested in Peg Mini, wondering if it is suitable for new born? what is the weight capacity until? 15kg?
appreciate if you can advise
Hi Alex:
The Mini is ideal for older babies and toddlers. While technically the Mini is approved for babies from birth, very young infants will probably find traditional strollers like the Mini more comfortable once they have developed better head and neck control (which usually happens between 3 to 5 months). The Mini does NOT accept a car seat. If you’re looking for lightweight stroller that DOES take a car seat, I’d recommend the Vela Easy Drive. By adding the car seat, like our Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30, the Vela is quite comfy for baby right from birth. All of our strollers have been tested for children up to 45 pounds. Hope this helps. hi…..just got a new vela….wonderful stroller……lightweight, with enough seat space…….love everything.
the problem is the wheels are already squeaking…..its a week old and can return it but don’t want to as it is perfect for my lifestyle…..any suggestions to get rid of squeaking.
the stroller is a 4 wheel vela & squeaks more on carpet ……so impossible to take to the mall…..
Thanks
Hi Singh:
I’m so glad you love the Vela, but I’m so sorry to hear you’re having problems with the wheels. You can use any kind of silicone spray on the wheels. (Do NOT use WD-40). Spray the silicone spray along the axles that hold your wheel assemblies on. We recommended you do this every 30 days to keep your stroller in top shape. If that doesn’t help, please call Customer Service at 800 671-1701. They will be able to help you troubleshoot. What you’re describing is not normal and shouldn’t be happening. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

What is the maximum weight capacity on the Vela 2010? I have a chunky toddler, and have recently begun to have steering trouble with our stroller. We love this stroller, but might have to make a change if his weight is the issue. Thanks!
Hi Britany,
Thanks for your question. All of our strollers can accommodate children up to 45 pounds. I hope that means the Vela Easy Drive will work for your family. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
