Introducing the new Skate System!
Here’s one stroller we unveiled at the ABC Kids Expo last week—the Skate System. Meeting the universal demand for stroller systems, the Skate System combines all the comfort, durability and features of the original Skate with the sought-after functionality of a three-piece system.
Skate System in Kiwi
The most notable feature proved to be the new weight. Coming it at around 8 pounds less than the original Skate, the new Skate System boasts a 2-pound weight difference on the chassis and a 6-pound difference on the stroller seat.
The next most notable difference was the switch to a three-piece from a two-piece unit. Designed for performance, the Skate System will come with a bassinet, stroller seat and chassis. Users will be able to swap one seat out for the other, depending on the needs of that particular day. They’ll also enjoy using the bassinet at home, as it stands on its own or with the help of the Skate Stand accessory.
Other notable changes to the model include:
- A removable, collapsible shopping basket with handles
- An adjustable backrest within the bassinet
- A roomier stroller seat
- A push handle with multi-position angle adjustment
Skate System comes with:
- Chassis
- Stroller Seat
- Bassinet
- Rain Cover
- Leg Cover (boot)
- Cup Holder
- Car Seat Adapters
Available accessories will include:
- Skate Umbrella (for added shade)
- Skate Stand (for bassinet)
- Skate Tray (for snacks!)
- Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 (travel system compatible)
Feel free to leave a comment or send me an email . . . I’m willing and ready to chat about the new Skate System!

Hi,
I have couples of questions about the new Skate
1) Is it still height adjustable? And does it raise to the same height as the original Skate?
2) Since the bassinet and stroller seat are two separate item now, so can the stroller seat still able to turn to bassinet like? Since I really like this feature in the original Skate, when the baby fall asleep, I can just turn the seat in a flat surface for him to sleep on. If it is not possible, is there an option for me to use the original Skate seat instead of the new one? Are they compatible?
3) Does the front wheels still have locks?
4) Does all the current Skate accessories still work for the new Skate?
5) For car seat, does the new Skate takes any other car seat other than Peg Perego’s?
6) When is it available and when I can order them?
Thanks
Charles
when do you think this skate will be availabe in stores?
Charles,
Glad to help!
1) Both the seat and the bassinet can be adjusted to three heights–the same feature that was offered on the original Skate.
2) The new stroller seat is just a stroller seat. It does not transform into a bassinet as it did in the original Skate. The new stroller seat also has what we call Tilt-in-Space recline adjustment, where the entire seat tilts as opposed to only the backrest.
3) Yes, the front wheels lock.
4) All accessories for the original Skate (EXCEPT for the bassinet liner) are compatible with the new Skate System!
5) As far as I know, the Skate only accepts the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio, as the included adapters are designed solely for this car seat. However, that does not mean that other manufacturers don’t have adapters that will also work. Please contact the car seat manufacturer of your choice to see if they have a solution for affixing their car seat to the Skate.
6) The Skate System is set to hit stores in January. Please contact your local retailer about pre-ordering the product, by searching for them here: http://main.pegperegousa.com/where-to-buy
Or, you may also pre-order online by referencing our list of authorized retailers at http://www.pegperego.com
Hope that helps!
Amanda
Beth,
The new Skate System is scheduled to hit stores in January! You may inquire with your local retailer to see whether they plan on carrying the product and continue to check in with them to see when they’ll be in stock. Our Where to Buy tool is here: http://main.pegperegousa.com/where-to-buy
Amanda
Hi Amanda,
is it true that the handle on the new Skate is no longer height adjustable? And has the ‘freedom of movement’ harness been replaced by a traditional 5-point harness? Thanks
Caroline,
The handlebar on the Skate does move up and down, but it does not telescope outward. So, while it is still height adjustable, it’s not as height adjustable as it used to be.
And yes, you heard correctly, we have replaced our Freedom of Movement harness with a traditional five-point harness.
Thanks for your questions, Caroline. Feel free to ask if others surface!
Amanda
Hello,
I came across this site and I am happy that I finally found some info about the new Peg Perego Skate Elite. I am due in mid January and have been researching strollers for few months now. I love the fact that the old Skate transformed from the bassinet to toddler seat, however didnt like the fact that it was 33lbs. Now, correct me if I am wrong the new Skate will not be able to do transform any longer? Whyyy, Whyyy do all the stroller companies do that? They always take something that was great and make it worse.
They also change their amazing telescopic handles and the Freedom of Movement harness? All these not so good changes, just so that now people won’t complain that it’s ot 33lbs, but 25 instead.
I was soooo looking forward to the new Skate Elite, because I figured it will remain the same, except the weight and now I dont know what to do. I feel like I am back to where I started. Maybe someone can change my mind on how the new one is better than the old one? I feel that every stroller has something missing that another one does not. I wish I could take all of them together and it will creat one amazing stroller.
Thank you,
Jane
Hi Amanda,
It’s a real shame that they’ve got rid of the telescopic handles – that was a real selling point for us! I am 5″8, and my husband is 6″2, so I fear the new model may not be ‘tall’ enough for us. Can you tell me how tall the handlebar on the 2010 model would be if adjusted to the maximum height?
Thanks,
Caroline
My wife and I like Skate mainly due to the height adjustable seat and the ability to transform between bassinet and toddler seat, which I think are the most important features of the original Skate.
I am glad the seat is still height adjustable (and hopefully still able to adjust to the same height as the original) but remove the ability to transform between bassinet and toddler seat is really a big drawback to me, which is the one feature which make Skate unique. So I still wonder is it possible to have the option to use the seat from the original Skate instead?
Caroline,
Sure! From the ground to the highest position of the handlebar, the measurement is 43.5”. So, just over 3.5 feet. My hunch is that it would work for you both, but, as I’m only 5’6″, I can’t be certain. Hopefully, this info will help you come up with some answers and determine whether it’ll be comfortable for both you and your husband. Let me know if there’s anything else I can provide you!
Amanda
Hello!
So i’m confused! I saw this video and it said that it is PP Skate ELITE http://www.invodo.com/Peg-Perego-Skate-Elite/p/9VFMVHZ0
but you all say that those great features we love in original Skate are not available anymore! i guess i should hurry up and buy original Skate beore they are all gone!
Charles,
Sorry about the super long time it’s taken me to get you a response! I’m really sorry about that. The truth is, that yes, the components from the original Skate are compatible with the new Skate System. However, we haven’t yet determined whether this will be a viable option for shoppers. As of now, we’re prepared to offer the original Skate’s accessories as optional accessories for the new Skate System (barring the bassinet liner), but we don’t yet know if we’ll be offering individual components of the Skate System. This is a question that we’ll continue to work through, and, once we arrive at an answer, I’ll let you know.
Also, yes, the seat is still adjustable to three heights, and the adjustable recline offers even more options for height/comfort.
Thanks so much for your patience, Charles.
Amanda
Ana,
It’s true that we won’t be offering the Skate Elite, and have instead will be offering the three-piece Skate System. If the Skate System isn’t what would work best for your family and the original Skate is, then I agree that you should look into the original Skate. There are still some online retailers that have this product in stock. If you’d like to search for a retailer in your area, you may use our Where to Buy tool and inquire as to whether that retailer has the original Skate in stock.
Thanks for your comment, Ana. Hope I cleared things up for you!
Amanda
Can the seat still be positioned to face forwards and backwards? Thanks
Caroline,
Yes, the seat may face forward or backward!
Amanda
Hi Amanda,
How can I know the price of the NEW Skate System and the price of the accesories.
Im in San Diego and my retailer (USA BABY) doesn´t even sell the original.
Thanks
ps. I loved the stroller
Arely,
Thanks for your comment!
The new Skate System has a suggested retail price of $699. Retailers, however, may choose to sell the product for more or less than this. I don’t have the prices for the accessories available, but will get back to you at the beginning of the week!
Amanda
Hi Amanda,
We live in NYC and are very curious to see the new Skate in person, but are aware it won’t be in stores until January. Are there any more shows or exhibitions in the northeast where it may be on display before it hits stores next year? We want to pre-order it as we are due early next year, but don’t want to do so without seeing it in person (even if just at an industry show) before we do. Thanks for any help!
–Winnie
Winnie,
There won’t be any more expositions or shows, but some stores may be on track to receiving the Skate earlier than scheduled. It may be worth contacting your local retailers and inquire as to whether they expect to carry the new Skate System and also ask them to keep you posted as to when they expect to get it in stock. (http://main.pegperegousa.com/where-to-buy) You see, some retailers will shelve the product as soon as they receive it. This means that if they happen to receive the Skate System in December, then they’ll make it available right away as opposed to waiting for expected January release date. (We aren’t yet expecting retailers to receive the Skate early, so this is a long shot, but may be worth looking into–plus, it’s just always good to maintain good communication with your retailer).
We aren’t expecting an initial shortage of the Skate System, so you should be okay if you decide to wait and ‘test out’ the Skate System before purchasing. (Shortages usually happen a little while after the product has been released and users have had a chance to use it and talk about it.)
Hope that helps, Winnie. Let me know if there’s more info I can provide to help ease your decision-making process!
Amanda
Hi Amanda
Will the new Skate have a locking system when it is folded down? I noticed there are no clips to hold the original in the folded position.
Thanks
Sonya,
The new Skate System has an automatic lock that activates when you fold the stroller. To unlock, it is similar to the original Skate, using a tab that you lift.
Thanks for your question!
Amanda
Amanda,
Will the new 2010 Skate still have a three, as opposed to four, position seat? How upright can the seat be positioned? Will the seperate bassinet have a harness? Are the prices available yet for the accessories, and are there any pictures online of the removable, collapsible shopping basket with handles that comes with the 2010 model?
Also, will there be any updates made to the Pilko Switch for 2010 besides fabric choices?
Thank you for your help.
Ellen,
The new Skate System has a three-position recline on the stroller seat as opposed to a four. It still offers three different height adjustments. I believe our photos show the seat in its most upright position. We’ve also made the canopy easily-removable just in case baby likes feeling that he’s in direct contact with the world around him.
The bassinet does not have a harness, as it does not need one with the 360-degree protection that the bassinet provides.
We do not yet have the prices available for the accessories, and while there aren’t any photos of the shopping basket online, I’ll email you one tomorrow.
And, lastly, the only changes to the 2010 Pliko Switch are the fabric choices and the fact that we have transitioned to a traditional 5-point harness.
Hope that helps! Let me know if there’s more I can provide!
Amanda
hi Amanda – I have an original Skate 2008, which I love – and a very tall baby! I think he will out grow the 2008 Skate seat before he is two. I see that the new Skate system has a bigger seat, and I was wondering if it would be possible to order just the seat from the replacement parts department and if it will attach to my 2008 Skate frame. With a bigger seat, we will be able to use the stroller for years. also, can you tell me the dimensions of the new skate seat please?
thanks!
Rachel,
Here are the dimensions of the new Skate seat:
Back 20.5”
Back to Knee 10”
Knee to feet 9”
Width 14”
And, the dimensions of the original Skate seat:
2008-2009 Skate
Seat Dimensions
Seat back: 50cm (19.7 in.)
Depth: 25cm (9.8 in.)
Width: 24cm (9.4 in.)
So, the new one is a bit bigger than the older one. While the components of the new Skate System are compatible with the original Skate, we haven’t decided whether we will allow users to purchase components of the Skate System separately… but I will contact you when more information is available.
Thanks!
Amanda
Amanda,
I am due at the end of December and am thinking of waiting for the new Skate. I will need to get the car seat before the January release date though. Could you please tell me if the 2009 Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 Infant Car Seat will work with the new Skate?
Thanks,
Ann
When will the 2010 strollers be on the Peg Perego website????
When will they be available for purchase (January?)
Will the UNO be available in a 2010 model with more fabric choices?
Thank you,
Lissette
Ann,
Congratulations on your coming baby!
Yes, the 2009 Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 is compatible with the 2010 Skate.
Thanks for your question,
Amanda
Lissette,
We hope to have the 2010 products up at the beginning of the year. We’re also planning for a bit of a re-design, so I’ll keep updates posted here on the blog as I’m aware of them.
Yes, there will be a 2010 Uno, and its fabrics will be Java (a dark brown and silver/gray combo), Sophia (a reversible, luxury fabric offered here in deep red), Tropical (an orange/brown combo), and Gala (a limited edition black and silver/gray plaid). Each of these colors can be seen on the blog in various posts, although they are shown on other products. If you’d like, I can email you a photo attachment of these fabrics on the Uno. Just let me know at onlineassociate@pegperego.com.
Thanks!
Amanda
Hi. I am due in early March and am holding out on purchasing a stroller until your 2010 models are available! I saw the new catalog in a store where I was stroller shopping and the owner had attended the ABC expo with all the new products and am so excited. When can I expect to be able to actually purchase one of the new models, either the Aria single or the Vela?
Thanks!
hi amanda
could you tell me the diferent beteewn skate 2009 and skate 2010?
i will have may baby in december and i will like know when i can can buy? and if you know the price?
Ashley,
Thanks for your excitement for our 2010 collection!
Different models will be available at different times, with most of them being available in January.
The Vela, however, is expected to hit stores in February/March. It may be best to contact your local retailer to see if they plan on carrying this model, and, if so, whether they can keep you posted as to when they plan to have it in store (this date varies, depending upon the retailer).
Also, we have decided to go against offering the Aria in 2010. 2009 models, however are still available from many retailers.
Hope this helps!
Amanda
Zore,
We expect the Skate System to be available no later than mid-January. Please contact your local retailer, as release dates vary dependent upon individual stores.
The main difference between the new Skate System and the original Skate, is that the old Skate had a singular unit that converted from a bassinet to a stroller seat. The new model, follows the trend of having a separate bassinet piece and a separate stroller seat piece. This allows the seats to be bigger and a bit more comfortable for baby. The new Skate System is also about 5-7 pounds lighter than the original model. Its suggested retail price is $699.
Those are the main differences, Zore. Glad to help!
Amanda
Is Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 the only car seat that can fit onto Skate? Is it possible for Skate to use other car seat? Are there any plan for other car seat adapter?
And for recline, can the seat goes all the way flat?
Thanks
Charles
Hello Charles!
Yes, the Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 is the only car seat that has been tested with the included car seat adapters, making it the only car seat that works with the Skate. Other car seat manufacturers may have developed adapters to allow their products to affix to the Skate, but I don’t know for sure. Furthermore, we don’t plan on creating adapters for other car seats. We believe wholeheartedly in the Primo Viaggio, and want to stand by it as much as possible.
The stroller seat has a 165-degree recline–pretty close to flat! Aside from bassinet features, we avoid having seats that recline perfectly flat because of the risk that the child may get entangled in the harness (bassinets eliminate this, as they do not require the use of harnesses).
The Skate’s bassinet, of course, goes all the way flat.
Thanks so much for your questions!
Amanda
I was holding out for the new skate as I love everything about the original but the weight. The two piece unit is very appealing to me as I don’t want to have to store the bassinet when the baby gets older. Is there anyway to get the convertable seat with the new lighter weight version of the skate?
Ashley Morgan,
We haven’t determined whether we’ll be offering separate components of the new Skate System yet. I don’t expect we’ll know until the stroller has been released.
The main weight difference between the models comes in the seats. The new Skate Systems stroller seat and bassinet are both lighter than the original Skate’s convertible component. The frames are about the same. So, my advice to you, is if you’re willing to accept the weight of the original Skate, purchase it now before it sells out. Then, in February or March, inquire as to whether you can purchase the lighter stroller seat from the Skate System. If so, well then you have exactly what you wanted! If not, then I suppose you can take heart in knowing that you won’t have to store an extra stroller piece..?? Just thinking aloud, here.
Let me know if you have more questions. Again, I don’t expect to have a final answer on this until after the stroller has hit stores, but maybe talking it out will help!
Amanda
Hi Amanda,
When will new skate elite be available in Singapore? I just purchase the old skate today from a retailer but really wish to change to the new skate elite as i will only have my stroller deliver to me in Mar 2010.
Thanks
Zoelyn
Hi Amanda,
I am very interested in purchasing the new Skate stroller, especially because the toddler seat is a little more spacious.
My only concern so far with the 2010 stroller is that the bassinet does not have a harness, especially if the bassinet is meant to fit babies up to 6 months of age since even a 4 and 5 month olds can move around quite a bit. I read in one of your previous post that the harness is not necessary because of the 360-degree protection provided with the bassinet. Can you please elaborate on what this protection is? My understanding is that the leg cover is part of this protection, but I am worried that it will be too warm in the summer to keep the leg cover zipped closed at all times.
A video about the Skate Elite mentioned it was going to have a peek-a-boo window in the sun canopy, will the 2010 Skate have this feature?
Would it also be possible for you to send me a picture of the shopping basket, and any pictures you may have of the stroller without the leg cover on both the bassinet and stroller seat?
Thanks for you help,
Jen
Zoelyn
Because I only work with the US collection, I’m not familiar with when the 2010 products will be available elsewhere. Please contact Peg Perego SpA for information on this: (011) 39-039-6088213
Also, as a reminder, the Skate Elite will not be available. Rather, we will be offering the Skate System for 2010!
Thanks for your comment!
Amanda
Jen,
Thanks for your comment!
It’s actually quite dangerous to use a harness when baby is in a bassinet/carriage such as the Skate. This is because they may become easily entangled and possibly strangled in the straps. Placing baby in a bassinet/carriage is really no different than lying them in a crib. Granted, they are in motion, but there’s minimal potential harm, unless, of course, the user is operating the bassinet/carriage incorrectly.
The 360-degree protection I spoke of is referencing the fact that the Skate’s bassinet has a solid wall of protection around the circumference of the ‘bed’. It’s a ring of protection, again, like you would get in a crib. A crib has a headboard, footboard and right and left sideboards. All around, 360-degree protection. With this protection, there is no way baby could just ‘slip out’, and therefore no need for a harness. (The leg cover isn’t a part of this protection. Its purpose is to keep the bassinet warm.)
I don’t believe there will be a window in the canopy, but I’ll double check!
And yes, I’ll work on getting some of those images to you.
Let me know if you have more questions!
Amanda
Hey Amanda,
Can you please let me know if there are any significant differences between the 2009 and 2010 Primo Viaggio Car Seats. We’re interested in the Paloma as well and I think I’ve read that it has a “special limited edition fabric”. Also, do you know of a tentative release date for them.
Lastly, we purchased the 2009 Skate Stroller and it’s absolutely fantastic!
Aloha,
Jason
Jason,
Great to hear you’re happy with your Skate!!
There’s no difference between the 2009 and 2010 Primo Viaggio car seats aside from fabrics. But with that being said, we’ve decided to pull the Paloma fabric into the 2010 collection, so if you’d like to purchase a 2010 car seat, the Paloma is still an option.
As of now, we’re expecting the 2010 car seats to be available near the end of this month or by early January. I’m actually hoping to have a blog post up on Monday that give further insight into release dates.
Hope this helps, and again, I’m glad you love your Skate!!
Amanda
Hello!
I love to read online “regular user” blog reviews of strollers… has this item been shipped early to any of the many reviewers out there?
Kristen,
We do have a review lined up with Fit Pregnancy, but I know that some reviews already exist at Growing Your Baby: http://growingyourbaby.blogspot.com/2009/09/abc-kids-expo-2009-peg-perego-2010.html
And PishPoshBaby.com: http://site.pishposhbaby.com/blog/2009/09/14/the-all-new-peg-perego-skate-stroller-2010-a-review/
Please keep in mind that because these reviews were written during the ABC Expo in September there’s some incorrect information. Reviewers were basically writing from memory or on the fly, as they were inundated with products from all over the industry.
Other than that, there may be some blogs that take up reviewing the product once it hits stores.
Amanda
Thanks – will the pegperegoskate.com website be updated with the new product soon? The pishposh website says “shipping in January” do you know when in January, or when stores like Babies R Us might have stock? We are adopting a sibling group from foster care – and I just got a phone call from my worker that their new sibling has been born so they want to get all 4 children into my home quickly … I’d like to get this stroller for the new baby.
Kristen,
Wow, your family is growing fast! We’re still working out how we’re going to transition into 2010 with the website, but I know the International Site has some information posted on the Skate System. If you have specific questions about the product and can’t find the information online, please don’t hesitate to contact me!!
I’m not 100% sure when the Skate System will be available, but I expect it to be sometime around mid to late January as opposed to early January. Sorry about that.
And, I’m checking with sales to see if it will be available in some of the bigger stores. I do know, however, there are a few retailers online who are taking pre-orders.
Get back to you soon!
Amanda
Thanks!
They had the owners manual posted on that site, which was very helpful.
I think making do and waiting a couple weeks is worth it. With my other kids (who are 8 and 5 now) I had one of those “other” strollers and it was awful … hard to push and the kids never looked really comfortable in them. I have decided this time I’m going to wait and make an investment in my stroller.
I found the preorder sites, but they were vague about when they are shipping, so I hesitate to preorder and commit myself to a retailer should another store get it in stock first. Since I’m not going to be picky about color especially.
Kristen,
Have some info on the Skate’s availability for you . . . apparently, the Babies R Us in Union Square NJ/NY will carry the Black Step Skate System. This is the only bigger store that is set to carry this product in-store. All four color options, however, will be available online from babiesrus.com. Perhaps a local, smaller store plans to carry it? You can take a look at retailers who have carried the Skate in the past by using our Where to Buy tool:
http://en.pegperegoskate.com/where-to-buy
That’s all I really know, Kristen. But if there’s more information I can provide you, please let me know!
Amanda
Is that new 2010 harness swappable with the freedom strap in my 2009 skate? Been a real pain to the point we have stop using the stroller. Or a solution to mount the harness. Cause with the lightest preasure my child is able to lean forward. Which is dangerous and not always good at times.
Thanks David
David,
So sorry for the frustration you’ve faced with your Skate stroller. Unfortunately, the new harness is not compatible with the older Skate model (there wouldn’t be a place for the shoulder straps to slip through the back). I’m so sorry about that.
(And, just for some clarification, please know that the Freedom of Movement harness is designed to detach from the back of the stroller seat. In fact, the tab that holds the harness in place isn’t to be used once baby is secured within the harness…it’s really just there to hold the harness in place while you get baby secured within. I know it may seem unsafe to detach the harness from the seat’s back, but the harness has been tested and has been proven safe! It’s just a nice way to help baby see more of the surrounding world and feel a little more “free”–while being entirely safe, of course).
Let me know if there’s more I can do to help, David. Again, I’m sorry for your frustration.
Amanda
What is the total weight of the new Peg Perego Skate 2010 with the stroller attachment, and what is the total width of the stroller?
TIA,
Rachel
Rachel,
The Skate System weighs around 28 pounds, depending on whether you have the stroller seat or the bassinet attached and whether you are using the canopy. The actual weights are:
Chassis: 21.5
Bassinet w/hood 7.75 Bassinet Only 6.3
Seat w/hood 7.0
The Skate chassis is 24-inches wide. The actual bassinet has interior dimensions of 30.5×13
Let me know if these are the types of measurements you’re looking for, Rachel!
Amanda
Hello!
I see an online retailer is shipping the stroller!! Yay me! LOL
There is a picture on one of the websites of an extra seat attached to the bottom of the stroller. Is there information on this accessory? (Pricing/ weight limits, etc etc)
Hi,
Just wondering if you could tell me when the new 2010 skate system will be released in Australia. I cannot find any thing about it.
Thanks
Mel,
From what I hear, Australia is set to receive the Skate System around the same time as the US. It’s being manufactured right now, so I’d say we’re looking closer to a February release date. If you get in touch with a local retailer, they may be able to pre-order one for you. A list of Australian retailers may be found on our international site (www.pegperego.com) — simply select Australia from the drop down and then proceed to Where to Buy.
Hope this helps!
Amanda
Kristen,
Good to hear of your purchase!
I just got word of a jumper/rumble seat for the Skate System. It’s set to be available in July. I don’t have much more information on it right now, but it seems pretty great!
Amanda
Thanks for your help. I have asked a store and they are saying they will arrive in stores April 10th. Just another question. Does the shopping basket on the new skate be able to connect to the 2009 ( bubbles ) skate?
Mel,
Good to know that Australian release time, Mel. Thanks!
And yes, the removable shopping basket is compatible with the older (2008/2009) Skate!
Thanks!
Amanda
hi Amanda
i really like the skate stroller ,,, i compared it with many and i have choose this brand
but i loved the red color of the old skate stroller ,, and the new features of 2010 ,, is there any possibility to get red one from 2010 ?
thank you
Hi Amanda,
I’ve noticed that at least one online retailer is shipping the Skate, but my local retailer thinks they won’t have it in store until the end of Feb. Do you know when it is shipping to stores? (The store in question is USA Baby in Burbank, CA).
Thanks!
Rawan,
Glad you love the Skate!
I’m sorry to say, but the new Skate will only be available in the advertised colors: Kiwi, Tropical, Black Step, and Java.
Sorry about that.
Amanda
Caroline,
We’re beginning to ship out the Skate System to retailers in order of oldest orders to most recent. So, retailers who placed orders first will receive the Skate first and so on. If USA Baby is expecting their order by the end of February, then I expect that’s either the time frame our sales department has provided, or the time frame that they’ve set out for themselves.
So, that’s the gist of it! Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Amanda
Amanda,
I now you said that the new skate will be available in kiwi, Tropical, Black, Java. But, is it in the plan that Corallo-Red color will be available some time in the near future?
Tom,
Thanks for your comment!
The Corallo color was part of our 2009 collection. And, because we strive to offer only the most fashion-forward designs, the Corallo was not adopted into the 2010 collection. Sorry about that!
Now, the original Skate (2008 model) may still be available from some online retailers in the Tango color (this is a red). So, if you like the features of the older Skate, it may be worth doing a Google search for “perego skate tango” and seeing what shopping options come up. Then, if you’re interested in purchasing, double check with me to make sure the retailer is an authorized Peg Perego retailer before making the final plunge.

Hi Amanda,
Albeebaby.com is a authorized retailer i can buy 2010 peg perego products. I am really interested in Pliko Switch completo in Kiwi, so you said completo not have in usa?
Just wondering if there is an option of adding some more color choices for 2010 Skate? We don’t really like the color combination that they have right now. I love red fabric from older skate, and other lite colors because we’re having a girl.
Thanks
Yen,
Yes! Albeebaby.com is an authorized retailer. However, we do not offer Completo in the US. You would have to get the regular Switch (also called Switch Classico). Sorry about that!
Amanda
Nadia,
The colors that we’ve advertised for the Skate System are going to be the only ones offered for 2010. Sorry about that. In case you’re interested, I think there are still some of the red Skates available from a few online vendors??
Just throwing that out there! Sorry, again. Let me know if there’s more information I can provide you.
Amanda
Amanda,
Does Pliko switch have rain cover, i just see rain cover for P3, so it can be used for Switch ?
Yen,
Yes! There is a rain cover accessory for the Switch. For a list of the Switch’s available accessories, you may be interested in this blog post.
To acquire an accessory, please contact Customer Service at 1-800-671-1701 or by emailing them at peregoservice@perego.com.
Thanks!

Hi.
I saw on this blog that Babies R Us will carry the new 2010 Skate on their website for online purchases. I haven’t seen anything about it on their website at all? Are they still due to carry it? Any idea of time frame?
Thanks.
Hello Again!
This isn’t related to the Skate … but I’m hoping you can answer or point me in the right direction.
I see on AlbeeBaby’s site that you can buy the frame for the duette and the triplette sw. If I buy the three stroller seats for the triplette will they be interchangeable on the duette frame as well? I have a 6 month old and a 2 year old, and was called about fostering an infant as well. I am thinking that sometimes the duette would be what I’m looking for and sometimes the triplette … depending on where I am going. But I would never be using both simultaneously. So … if I could buy the chassis for each and then one set of the stroller seats it would be a great savings for me.
Kristen,
Yes, the seats that work on the Triplette also work on the Duette and vice versa. They’re really just the same seats.
Hope that helps!
Amanda
Hi,
A couple of questions about the 2010 Skate:
1) Does the toddler seat go to a fully upright position?
2) How does it fold? Is it one handed folding? Can it fold with the seat attached?
3) What kind of wheels does it have?
4) I live in a snowy climate – is it possible to push the Skate with the larger wheels in front for snow?
5) What will the options be for adding a second child?
Thanks so much!
Rachel.
Rachel W -
Good questions!
1) The toddler seat goes quite upright, though it’s definitely not a 90-degree angle. The picture in this post of the stroller seat is with it in it’s most upright position. Like I said, it’s quite upright, but to be completely objective, I could see how it may not be as upright as some would like.
2) With practice, it could be a one-hand fold, but it’s generally going to take two hands. The new Skate System folds just like the old Skate. We have a video here. The new Skate System can fold with the stroller seat attached, but not the bassinet.
3) It has rubber foam tires (the old model had air-filled tires).
4) No, it’s not possible to push the Skate with the big wheels in front. This option is, however, available on the Uno.
5) We’ll be coming out with a Jumper Seat in July! I don’t know much more than that, but it will work on the Skate’s chassis with either the bassinet or stroller seat attached.
Let me know if there’s more I can do!
Amanda
Is the skate stroller as good as it looks? I’ve read some negative reviews. baby sliding down in bassinet, frame breaking at elbow, baby outgrowing stroller. etc.
also, are the wheels easy to pull off for storage?
can’t decide between skate or an uno.
main things i want are bassinet feature and rear facing option.
Cindy,
The new Skate System has been redesigned for 2010, so the majority of the reviews out there on the Skate don’t apply because they’re for the old version. The new design offers a larger seat and bassinet, a lighter weight, and a sturdier attachment (the “baby sliding” issue you came across is probably a reference to how some users found the seat to wobble and lean a bit when it was attached to the chassis. It was a very rare problem and any user who contacted us regarding this problem was assisted immediately), along with a few other neat features.
The issue you mentioned about the frame breaking, however, isn’t a problem I’ve come across, so I’m not sure how to address that. We’re using the same chassis design for the new model that we used for the old model, and didn’t see a need to update/strengthen it. My guess is the user review you read had an unfortunate, rare experience with their stroller.
Yes, the wheels can be taken off. Again, it’s the same chassis design, so they can be removed in the same way. However, it should be noted that the new Skate System comes with separate bassinet and stroller seat components (the original Skate had one seat that converted back and forth).
If you’re having so many doubts about the Skate, perhaps the Uno would be better. They share many of the same features, but I’d say the main reason people choose the Skate over the Uno is they like being able to use the bassinet apart from the chassis. And, for those who prefer the Uno, they like it because of how easy it is to switch from front to rear-facing (you simply flip the handle). They probably also like how it’s lighter and smaller when folded (unless, of course, you detach the Skate’s wheels).
So, that’s it. The Skate has a superior bassinet, and the Uno has a superior switch to rear-facing. I hope this doesn’t confuse you further, but it may be helpful to decide whether you want to use the bassinet apart from the stroller. If so, the Skate would be the clear choice.
I’m here to help, Cindy. If you have any questions, let me know!
Amanda
Hi, I would like to know the dimensions and actual weight of the package please. I need to send it overseas and must know the exact weight, package’s height, length, and width.
Thank you very much.
Igor,
The Skate’s shipping package is 42 pounds and the dimensions are:
36 x 12 x 21 inches.
Hope that helps!
Amanda
[...] spent a lot of time discussing the products that had major changes for 2010, including the products that are new! But we haven’t spent much time on the products [...]
I noticed that the new skate 2010 rear wheels have changed from the original version. It used to be inflatable wheels now it isn’t. I understand that inflatable wheels are better. Any reason why that’s changed?
Sherry,
Yes, the new tires are still rubber, but they’re not inflatable. I believe the reason behind changing this was to eliminate the need to pump up the tires (like any air-filled tire, they would sometimes go flat at inopportune times). Personally, I feel this switch has only minimally affected the stroller’s ride.
Let me know if you have further questions!
Amanda
Hello!!! do you have pictures of:
Skate Umbrella (for added shade)
Skate Stand (for bassinet)
Skate Tray (for snacks!)
Thank you!!!
Anais,
I put the photos in a new blog post. I figured others would like to see them too!
Thanks,
Amanda
Hello – I am looking at the Skate 2010 system and I am really excited to see one stroller that does so many things. One question I have is about the upcoming jumper seat in July. Will this work with the stroller if we buy it before July and will that decrease the carrying capacity, considering the stroller looks like it is rated for 50 lbs. Being able to use this for our second child will be great benefit of this stroller.
What is the weight limit for Jumper seat? Age Limit?
Thanks,
Steve
Steve,
Thanks for your interest in the Skate System! The current Skate seat has a maximum capacity of 45lbs. The jumper seat will be the same, 45 lbs — making the stroller a combined maximum weight limit of 90lbs. And yes, the jumper seat will fit a 2010 model if purchased prior to July. There is no age limit on the jumper seat. It can be used as long as a child can fit comfortably and is within the weight limit.
Thank you!
I am very interested in the new Skate, love Peg Perego, I have the car seat already, I used it with my first child. My question is about the jumper seat, can I use the jumper seat and the bassinet feature at the same time? Can the jumper seat be positioned in the front facing or rear facing, I’ve only seen pictures of it facing the parent not facing forward, the reason I ask is because my now 18 month old will be 2 years old and he likes to face outward so the jumper seat would have to face outward as well? I was debating between this stroller and the Baby Jogger City Select but this is even more compact, which I love!
Thank you,
Lily
Lily,
I don’t have all the information on the Jumper Seat yet, but here’s what I do know …
You will be able to use it with either the stroller seat or the bassinet.
It will accommodate up to 45 pound.
I’m pretty sure it will only be able to rear face, meaning the stroller seat must also rear face. If this would be an issue with your son, then I agree that it’s definitely something to take into consideration.
We do have a forward-facing inline stroller — the GT3 ForTwo. (Just in case you’re interested).
Let me know if you have more questions! I’ll do my best to answer.
Amanda
[...] Again, we’ll be expecting the Jumper Seat in July, and it will be compatible with both the older (2008-2009) Skate and the new 2010 Skate System. [...]
I just bought the peg perego skate black bubbles..We are expecting our first child in 2 weeks and we spent 2 hours trying to figure out our car seat and stroller. Only issue we havent been able to figure out is how doe sthe 5 point harness clip in( upper body strap) we are confused?
Thanks Natalia
Natalia,
The 2008/2009 Skate’s harness isn’t supposed to attach to the back of the seat. This is because it’s a Freedom of Movement harness that allows baby more room to safely move about within the seat.
If it helps, babygizmo.com did a video review of the Skate where they show the steps you take to get the harness out from under the bassinet.
Please remember, though, that the harness is only to be used when you’re using the Skate seat in toddler seat form. It is not to be used when the seat is in bassinet form.
Hope that helps! If you’re still struggling to get the harness just right, you may contact Customer Service at 1-800-671-1701.
Thanks!
Amanda
Just wondering if you are going to sell the extra seat in Canada for the skate?
We are having another baby and want to keep our skate if possible.
How much is the extra seat?
something like a toddler seat…and still have the peg car seat on the skate as well.
Jill,
Because I work solely with US products, I’m not sure if the Jumper Seat will be available in Canada or how much it will cost. Please contact Peg Perego Canada for this information: 1-800-661-5050.
Thanks!
amanda
Hi Amanda,
Any update on below? I also love my 2009 skate but I like the size and more vertical position of the 2010 seat. Will we be able to buy the 2010 seat seperately?
Thanks,
Toni
==================================================
While the components of the new Skate System are compatible with the original Skate, we haven’t decided whether we will allow users to purchase components of the Skate System separately… but I will contact you when more information is available.
Toni,
I’m so sorry I didn’t get back to you as promised!
I just talked with Customer Service, and we aren’t selling the components of the Skate System separately. I’m so sorry about this.
Please let me know if I can help in any other way.
Amanda
Why have you transitioned to a traditional 5 point harness. I really liked the idea of freedom of movement harness. Was there any particular reason? safety issues?
Olga
Hi Amanda,
Is Chit Chat Baby (chitchatbaby.com) an authorized dealer for the Skate? I am considering ordering online to save money on the taxes.
Also, is there a mosquito or bug net available for the skate? I see there is one for the umbrella type folds.
Thanks,
Jennifer
Olga,
There weren’t any safety issues with the Freedom of Movement harness. We simply found that parents tend to prefer the traditional harness. Some prefer it because it’s a bit easier to use. Others prefer it because it makes them feel that their child is safer (although this is not the case). Anyway, that’s the reason behind the switch. Thanks for letting me know your thoughts! We, of course, were huge fans of the Freedom of Movement harness.
Amanda
Jennifer,
Yes, ChitChatBaby.com is an authorized retailer! But no, we don’t have a mosquito net for the Skate. Sorry about that.
Amanda
Are there any demonstration videos of the new 2010 skate? I found several that said they were for the new model; however, they demonstrated the convertible seat/bassinet. I saw a link to the Peg Perego Skate site for a video, but I did not find the actual video.
Also, is the Kiwi color light and dark green, or light green and black?
THIS IS A GREAT SITE for additional information.
We have the Baby Jogger City Select but are thinking about returning the stroller because the adaptor for the Peg Perego car seat is not desirable. There are numerous demonstration videos of the new Baby Jogger and it would be helpful and competitive to have the same for the new skate. THANKS!
Allison,
As you’ve found, there are a few videos out there about the older Skate, but nothing to date on the new Skate System. If you have any questions, I’d love to try and explain it, though! Just let me know.
The Kiwi is a light and dark green combination. No black.
Hope that helps! Let me know if I can help in any way.
Amanda
Hi,
What is the weight limit on the bassinet for the Skate? How long can a baby use it for?
Jennifer,
The weight limit for the bassinet is a little over 19 lbs. (It’s stated in the manual). Depending on the child, this can vary, but generally baby reaches this around 6 months.
Hope that helps!
Amanda
Hi Amanda,
I just got the New Skate. I also bought the bassinet stand to use it in my bedroom the first few weeks baby is feeding every 2 hrs. Are there and sheets or paddings that will fit the inside of the bassinet?
Thank you,
Andrea
Andrea,
There isn’t a bedding set that we typically recommend. So, I’d suggest searching for bedding that works with the Bassinet’s interior measurements (30.5″x 13″).
Hope that helps!
Amanda
hi!
i was just reading these comments and saw in one of the 1st few comments that the new skate system will be selling for around $699 how can that be??? i went into a store the other day to check out the differences between the old skate and the new one and through them in costs nearly $1500!!! am i going to the worng store or something because that is a HUGE diference!!!
thanks
Jess!
Jess,
Yes, the Suggested Retail of the new Skate System is $699. But, as you’ve found, our retailers are allowed to set their own prices for our products. Some stick to our suggested retail value, while others adjust it to be more or less. It’s basically their call.
If you want to shop around more (and know that you’re ready to buy), you can always check to see if stores would be willing to order the product for you. Another option, if there aren’t any other Peg Perego-authorized retailers in your area, would be to go online to shop. We have a number of authorized retailers online.
Let me know if there’s more information I can provide!

Hi I am in Australia and was just wondering if u knew if there were new colours for 2011 in the new skate don’t like the colours that are out now and wondering if they will change regards amber
Hi,
How do you remove the bassinet from the Skate stand? I was able to click it into place (in the recline position) but can not figure out how to remove the bassinet from the stand. Is there a way to change the position of the bassinet while in the stand. Are there instructions on how to do this and use the stand?
Thanks.
Jen
Amber,
Thanks for your interest in the Skate System!
Each year, we do come out with new fabric colors for our products.
I’m not really sure how we debut the colors in Australia, but I do know that here in the USA, we’ll unveil the new collection in October at the ABC Trade Show. Until then, I don’t have any specific information I can share. My advice would be to call Peg Perego Italy to see when the 2011 Collection will be unveiled in Australia. Peg Perego Italy (located in Milan) may be reached at (011) 39-039-6088213. Please remember this is an out-of-country call.
Hope this helps!

Jennifer Tran,
You should be hearing from Customer Service for help with this! Let me know if you happen to not connect.
amanda
Hi, this is also in regards to what David wrote on Jan 4th 2010. I too do not feel safe with this ‘freedom of movement’ strap. I feel that I have been misled to believe that it was a typical 5-point safety harness and therefore that the stroller would be safe to my standards for my child. But it’s not. When my child is in the stroller I don’t feel that she is safe if the stroller stops suddenly, she is lunged forward and bangs her mouth on the bar (which is not even padded!!)
It’s like putting your child in a car seat with only a waist buckle. Then the car stops suddenly … this is just not safe as you can imagine.
I am not satisfied with this harness, is there something that can be done as I am stuck with an expensive stroller that I can’t use.
thank you.
Claire,
I’ve forwarded your concern on to Customer Service. You should hear from them soon (if you haven’t already). I apologize for any frustration you may have felt with the Freedom of Movement harness, Claire. So please let me know if you do not hear from them soon.
amanda
thanks for that amanda i’ll have to look more into it
! thanks for the advice

Hi Amanda
I love my peg and I have the older 08/09 skate model purchased just before the new model was introduced to Aust market. However I am extremely concerned about the angle of the basinette. I don’t know whether its the pins not holding it straight but basically since i put my baby in it she has slipped down towards the boot like some other ppl have reported. Could it be a problem with the frame too perhaps? Can you suggest the best people for me to contact?
Many thanks
Caroline
Caroline,
I believe Peg Perego Italy has a solution for the pin issue. You will need to contact them, because they handle all Customer Service inquiries from Australia. They can be reached at (011) 39-039-6088213. They are located in Milan, Italy, so keep that in mind when calling.
Glad you like your Skate … I am certain the issue will be resolved shortly!
Amanda
Hi Amanda,
Are the fabrics of the Skate’s seat and bassinet removable and machine washable?
Also, I know that Peg Perego advertises that its products are made in Italy. Is this true for the fabrics as well? I’m concerned about any unsafe chemicals used on the fabrics.
Thanks for you help.
Dennis,
Yes, the fabrics are removable, but they must be hand washed. This is to maintain the quality of the fabric.
Our products are made in Italy, but the products that will be sold in the US are made specifically with US specifications in mind. So, even though we do use flame retardants on our fabrics, you won’t find any chemicals that have been deemed as unsafe by US standards.
Hope that helps!
Amanda
Thanks, Amanda, that helps. Also, is pishposhbaby.com an authorized dealer for your products? They advertise that they give an additional 1 year warranty on top of Peg Perego’s 1 year warranty.
Dennis,
Yes, PishPoshBaby is an authorized retailer. Thanks!
Amanda
[...] follows mom, dad and baby so seamlessly from bedroom to living room to sidewalk to park as the Skate System. The Skate truly is one piece of baby gear that seems to do it [...]
Hi Amanda! Is there any news on what to expect with the 2011 Skate system? Will there be any major changes like there were last year- or should we just expect new colors? Also, when and where will consumers first be able to purchase a 2011 model? Thanks!
Lauren
Lauren,
There won’t be any changes to the Skate System for 2011 aside from fabrics.
We expect it to be available early 2011, but we do not know which of our retailers will carry it. You may want to check in with your local retailer and inquire as to whether they intend on ordering this product.
Hope that helps!
amanda
Just wanted to understand one thing the peg-perego website states that the seat and the carry-cot are 2 different packages that can be attach to the same chassis and even the manual shows them differently but all the videos show the skate having 1 seat converting from carry-cot(bassinet) to the child seat?
Am i misunderstanding something. I am totally confused as I want a system which has both
Please help me
Tanay,
The videos you are watching are on the older Skate version (2008, 2009). This version had a seat component that converted from a bassinet to a stroller seat.
The new 2010 version has two separate seat components like we show on the website. We don’t have an official product demo video for this, but Baby Gizmo did put one together. You can watch it here.
Hope this helps!
Amanda
I got the 2010 skate which I love but the height is a bit of a bummer, so I was wondering can the new stroller seat be used on the old skate chassis?
Does the Skate has an extra Liner for winter, possibly fleece or any other material to keep the child warm?
S,
Yes the 2010 Skate seat may be used on the 2008-2009 chassis.
Your stroller should have come with a footmuff/boot that is great for warmth in the winter time. For some extra coverage from wind and snow, it should have also come with a rain shield. Those are the basic items we offer for winter. If you need some additional coverage, you’ll have to look elsewhere. I know some companies produce blankets or wraps that may be used with strollers.
Hope that helps!
Amanda
Hallo, i live in Turkey and i’m pregnant with my second child. I really would like to buy the SKATE 2010 for my child but i’m little bit afraid about the wheels. I know that the air-filled tires are gone but i am not sure if the new wheels are suitable for long walks.
Thank you very much for your answer.
any words about the 2011 version of Skate? Any major changes in terms of design and price? It is now Nov, kinda expect something new next Jan.
Barbara,
The Skate System is great for walks. You can take it on cobblestone, brick, gravel, grass and, of course, smooth pavement. Just be sure to avoid terrain that is too bumpy (this may include some grassy or gravel areas).
Let me know if I can be of further assistance!
Amanda
Karrie,
Aside from fabric choices, the 2011 Skate won’t have any updates. And the suggested retail price ($699.99) will also stay the same.
Thanks!
Amanda
hi, i have a flat back tyre on my skate, how do i fix it? the pump doesnt work as it seems i had a nail embedded in it. Also, can i get the collapsible basket for my skate and where can i get it? does it fit onto a 2008 skate?? thanks
christina,
I have forwarded your comment on to Customer Service along with your email address. You should hear from them today or tomorrow!
Amanda
do you know if the peg perego viaggio sip (not the 30/30) that is sold in canada is compatible with a peg perego skate purchased in the usa?
lesley,
Not sure about that … I imagine it’s compatible, but you could call Peg Perego Canada to find out: 1-800-661-5050
I’m curious, though, are you planning on using the Canadian car seat in the US or do you plan to use the US Skate in Canada? I’d advise against using the Canadian seat in the US, since it won’t meet US regulations. But I imagine it would be ok to use the US Skate in Canada if the stroller ends up being compatible with the Canadian Primo Viaggio.
Amanda
Dear Amanda!
I like Peg Perego Skate and I can’t decide between Peg Perego Skate and Skate 2010. Could you please answer a few questions?
1) I wonder if it is possible to convert the toddler seat to a bassinet in original Skate with a sleeping child inside it so the child can continue to sleep in a horizontal position? Or I should take a child out of the stroller anyway?
2) Is the canopy on original Skate same to a canopy on Skate 2010? I mean does it have the same mesh window like in 2010 which can be opened or closed?
3) I saw the video on you tube that demonstrates how “unsafe” the original Skate is because of freedom of movement harness. On this video a girl can easily reach the bumper bar with her head and her mother doesn’t like it. But actually I like that a child has an opportunity to move in a seat. So my question is: is it gonna be safe if I remove the bumper bar (so the child won’t hit a bumper bar) and will use only the harness?
4) I see that on Skate 2010 the bassinet may be used as a portable bassinet. So is the toddler seat portable too? Is the convertible seat on original Skate is portable? I mean if I will be able to take a baby in a bassinet/seat home if the baby falls asleep?
Thank you!
Mary,
Thanks for your interest in the 2009 and 2010 Skates! To answer your questions:
1. On the 2009 model, yes, it would be possible to convert it with a sleeping child. Just remember that the bassinet mode has a weight capacity of 19 lbs.
2. Yes, both strollers have the mesh window.
3. The Freedom of Movement harness is perfectly safe. But if you’d rather use it with the bumper bar removed, that would be fine, although your child may prefer to have the bumper bar stay on so that he/she has something to grab on to. If you are concerned about the harness, then you may just want to go with the 2010 or 2011 Skate models … these have traditional harnesses.
4. The 2010 Skate and 2011 Skate models have separate seat and bassinet components. These bassinets may be used at home with our Bassinet Stand accessory. The 2008 and 2009 Skates (the ones with the convertible seat/bassinet) may also be used indoors while in bassinet mode. But they absolutely must be used in conjunction with the Bassinet Stand, since the fabric is collapsible. And they should not be used as a ‘portable’ item while in stroller seat mode.
I hope that clears things up! Let me know if you have additional questions, Mary.
Amanda
Dear Amanda,
Thank you so much for answering all of my questions!
But I still have some more
I actually prefer the Skate 2010 because of the separate bassinet. It seems pretty nice. So my questions are:
1) What are the internal dimensions of the bassinet? The main thing is how deep it is. (Because all bassinets I see at stores are pretty shallow.) Is it gonna be enough space for a baby wearing warm clothes during winter?
2) Is this traditional 5 point harness still allows the child to move a little bit? Because I think that the child shouldn’t sit in one position all the time.
3) It is great that bassinet is portable. So the handle with which to carry the bassinet is the bumper bar?
Thank you!
Mary
Mary,
No problem!
1. I’m checking on the depth dimensions for you, but I do know that the inner bassinet are is 30.5″ x 13″.
2. The child will not be able to move as much … it acts like a normal harness, keeping baby’s shoulders against the back of the stroller. You can loosen or tighten the harness, depending on your needs (and your baby’s activity level), but it will be more restrictive.
3. Yes, you use the bumper bar as the bassinet handle!
Let me know if you have more questions, and I’ll check on that dimension for you!
Amanda
I am keen to buy a Peg Perego Skate from U.S.A and bring it back to Singapore. Does Peg Perego provide international warranty?
Kah
Dear Amanda,
Thank you for your reply!
You made things clear for me. I don’t have any more questions for now
, just the bassinet depth, but I see you’re checking it for me.
Thank you!
Mary
Kah,
Thanks for your interest in the Skate!
I’m sorry, but we do not have an international warranty. You should purchase your Peg Perego Skate from this store in Singapore:

69, Kaki Bukit Ave 1 Shun Li Industrial Park
Phone: (65) 68441188

That way, you’ll have a warranty.
Hope that helps!

Dear Amanda,
I see there is no mosquito net available for Skate model. But do you know if there are any mosquito nets from other Peg Perego strollers which fit the Skate model? Or maybe there is a some kind of universal mosquito net which fits every stroller? What would you recommend?
Thank you,
Mary
Hi Mary,
You are right, our mosquito netting is not designed to fit the Skate. Sorry about that! You might be able to find a third-party manufacturing company that makes something that would work. There are a lot of companies out there that specialize in after-market stroller accessories. Sorry I can’t do more to help. But thanks for your interest in the Skate, and let me know if you have any additional questions!
-Amanda
I have the 2009 Skate. I use it with the toddler seat. There are so many things I love about it. There are no other 2 seaters that are as short as this is. I have become so spoiled by it. But there are some draw backs, it is really heavy. If I am pushing on a flat surface I have no problems, but many of the sidewalks where I live are angled so the water drains towards the street (really annoying). Most of my strollers have that pull, so it isn’t a Peg problem.
But because the Skate is soooo heavy it seems to make the problem seem that much worse. Plus the weight of 2 kids, ugh it is a workout. (neither kid is close to reaching the weight limit either). But like I said besides the angled sidewalks it is great. I have pushed it on grass, sand, gravel, nearly everything imaginable.
So anyway this leads me to my actual question, do you have the actual weight broken down of the old Skate vs new Skate (I saw the new skate’s weight listed earlier).
About some of the concerns/problems people have mentioned earlier, mine has had the tilt where baby goes towards to feet. My local Peg repair shop said they couldn’t find a problem, (rolls eyes) so they couldn’t fix it. Mine has suddenly folded while pushing one kid in it. It was the button under the “fold”. On the phone I was told there was nothing that could be done, except that I could buy a new chasis, even though it was still under warranty. When I took it to my local Peg repair, they fixed it no problem at no cost. My “elbows” do look like they will break any day now. I keep the toddler seat on, as extra stability, because again the repair people said they couldn’t see a problem. I <3 Freedom of movement harness on all Peg strollers (yes I have several models), except the Skate. Because the other strollers are lower to the ground and I can prop the child's feet up, the FOM harness is great because they can actually look around and aren't "strapped down" to the seat. On the Skate, there needs to be a regular harness, because there is nothing to hold the feet up (which I don't like either, but that is another complaint). My son seems to slip out of this harness all the time, but he has never slipped out of the others harnesses, like the P3. The straps do have to be properly adjusted, not too loose or tight. for it to work properly. Hmm there was another complaint I wanted to address, but now I can't remember. Oh well.
I do think it has its quirks (as any stroller) but overall I really like it. I would recommend it.
Hi Li!
Thanks for your comments regarding the Skate! I’m so glad there was so much for you to love about your 2009 original Skate. If the weight was the one thing you really didn’t like about the old Skate, you’ll love our new Skate System! It comes in at a full 8 pounds less than the original Skate, boasting a 2-pound weight difference on the chassis and a 6-pound difference on the stroller seat. (Here’s the breakdown for each component on the 2011 Skate System: chassis only: 21.1 lbs; chassis with bassinet: 29.9 lbs., chassis with stroller seat: 29.7 lbs.) Oh, and the 2011 Skate System does not have the Freedom of Movement harness, which it sounds like you’ll probably like as well. The 2011 Skate System has a traditional 5-point safety harness. Please let me know if you have any more questions. And while it sounds like you got all of your service issues resolved, you can always contact Customer Service directly at peregoservice@perego.com. -Amanda
Hello Amanda,
I was wondering if you could tell me what’s the depth of the toddler seat? where the baby’s bum is supposed to be, I hope I’m clear enough.
Thanks a bunch!
Hi Mariah:
The width of the seat on the Skate is 14 inches. And from the back to the front, the seat measures 10 inches. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks!

Hi, I recently bought the Primo Viaggio car seat (model 2011), and I want to buy a stroller … I’m between the switch and skate Skate … on I have several questions:
1) What are the differences between 2010 and 2011 model skate?
2) Models 2010 and 2011 are compatible with SKATE car seat I bought?
3) For 2012, you get a new model of the skate?
4) What are the differences between the bassinet and seat? They are for certain ages?
5) The bassinet can not be put directly into the car, right?
thanks
Hi Brenda,
Thanks for your questions. If you love the idea of a reversible seat, both the Skate System and Pliko Switch Compact are great options. Now to answer your questions regarding the Skate …
The Skate System has not changed much in recent years. If you’re comparing the 2010, 2011, and 2012 models, the only noticeable difference you’ll find is the color selections that are offered, which change each year.
If you have a 2010 Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 car seat, it will work fine with a 2010, 2011, or 2012 Skate.
The Skate System comes with both a bassinet and a stroller seat. The bassinet is great for those first few months. It can be used until baby begins to push up on hands or knees or reaches 20 pounds, whichever comes first.
And no, the bassinet cannot be used in the car. It is meant for stroller or home use only.

thanks you emily, and which stroller you recomend me?
Thanks!!!!!
Hi Brenda,
It really depends on what you’re looking for. While the Skate System and the Pliko Switch Compact share a lot of the same great features (removable reversible seat; separate chassis that is travel-system compatible with our Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 car seat), there are a few differences.
First, the Skate System is a three-piece system that comes with the Skate chassis, stroller seat, and bassinet. If you like the idea of having a separate bassinet (and especially if you want to use it at home with our sold-separately bassinet stand), the Skate might be a better option for you. The Skate also has a different look that’s very fashion-forward. If you like that, then again, the Skate is probably for you.
The Switch, on the other hand, is a two-piece stroller (chassis plus removable, reversible seat). There’s no separate bassinet, but the seat itself does have a full recline and therefore can be used as a carriage for even very young babies. The Switch is a bit smaller, and lighter, so if that’s important to you, the Switch might be the best option. Lastly, if you have a second child (or might one day), you might want to consider the Switch for its built-in rear foot board, which provides a safe ride for a second older child (my stroller has this feature, and my 4-year-old uses it all the time!).
Check out these videos to see all the features I mention above, and more, in action. And do let me know what other questions you have. We’re here to help!

Hello!
I was wondering what’s the actual weight limit for the Perego Skate 2010 seat? I’ve checked on this blog (sb asked in the 2011 post) and the reply given was that it can hold up to 45 lb (20 kgs) but in the user guide that came with my stroller the limit is 15 kgs. Which one is correct? My boy is nearing 15 kgs in weight and we don’t want to quit using our Skate! We love it!!
Hi Maria,
Is it the 2010 Skate System that you have? Does it have the separate bassinet and stroller seat? If so, the stroller seat has been tested to accommodate children up to 45 pounds. The bassinet has a weight limit of 20 pounds. Please let me know if you have additional questions. Thanks!

Hi – I have the original Skate, but need to purchase a new carseat (assuming its expired since 2008, I’m expecting end of Jan 2013). Would the new Peg Perego carseat be compatible with the original Skate? Thanks.
Hi Natasha,
Thank you for your question. To answer, yes, the original Skate is compatible with the current Primo Viaggio SIP 30-30 car seat. Congratulations on your impending arrival and please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.
Thanks again,
Erica
Hi my skate stroller clicks when I try to recline it, but only on one side, it’s rather stiff, I feel like I am forcing it, I’m scared I’ll damage it, any suggestions? I read that I should clean it, but the area is difficult to clean and most importantly ,to dry! Should I oil it? If so which oil?
I took the seat unit off an pulled the back recline button, both pins do retract, I think it must be the plastic which you connect the seat/car seat or bassinet into.
I’d appreciate any advise
Many thanks
Jilly
