A Cool Italian Convertible for Your Child

Where do we start with our new Primo Viaggio SIP Convertible 5-70 car seat? The new addition to our Viaggio car seat family follows your child from infancy through toddlerhood, providing comfort, style and safety for them from 5 to 70 pounds.

The Primo Viaggio SIP Convertible 5-70 converts from rear facing (for children 5 to 45 lbs.) to  forward facing (for children 22 to 70 pounds, or up to 49 inches). Its Side Impact Protection head panel protects child’s head, neck and spine and easily adjusts to 10 different positions, even with baby in the seat, ensuring a perfect – and safe – fit. The Primo Viaggio SIP Convertible 5-70 also features energy-absorbing foam, Expanded Poly Styrene, in the shell and head panel, and a Shock Absorbing Foam Element (SAFE) below the shell that crumples upon impact.

Plus, baby will look great (and be comfortable) with the seat’s innovative Fresco Jersey performance fabric (it’s breathable, absorbs moisture and is easy to clean), which is available in six sophisticated color ways.

Of course, we are excited about this new addition to Viaggio car seat family, but what do some of the leading baby bloggers have to say about the Primo Viaggio SIP Convertible 5-70?

The BabyGuy Gear Guide

“That’s Amore …” is how the BabyGuy entitled his blog about the Primo Viaggio SIP Convertible 5-70. That’s good news for us … and for you! Here’s what Jamie Grayson had to say:

“It’s an incredibly attractive seat … a sexy and sleek design for parents who don’t want to muck-up their car. The upholstery is gorgeous and the Jersey Fresco fabric is so soft I’m jealous. Got a carsick kiddo? Don’t worry—the fabric can be removed for hand-washing … The LATCH install is very easy, and the lock-offs for seatbelt installation are actually quite easy to use compared to others on the market.

Moooooo-ve over, because there’s a new car seat in town. And it’s a damn good one. Great job, Italians. Great job.”

Baby Gizmo

Baby Gizmo took an “up close and personal” look at the Primo Viaggio SIP Convertible 5-70. Blog founder Hollie Schultz said you need to “take notice”!

“One of our favorite features of the Primo Viaggio Convertible 5-70 seat is the adjustable Side Impact Protection (SIP) that is super easy to adjust to 10 different positions, even with baby in the seat. This adjustment not only moves the headpiece but the harness straps as well. No more uninstalling the car seat and re-threading harnesses with this one! Booyah!”

Mommy Loves Coffee

Christina Holt of Mommy Loves Coffee points out that Peg Perego is “widely known for their exceptional details to safety and style.” Here’s what she said about one of the comfort features of Primo Viaggio Convertible 5-70:

“It is a Fresco Jersey performance fabric. It’s very breathable. It absorbs a lot of moisture and will keep your baby cool and comfortable, even in the black. It’s never been hot to the touch. My child has never been uncomfortable while sitting in it, and he’s a hotbox!”

Test Drive: Pliko Mini

How many strollers do you have? Working for a baby gear company, that’s a question I get a lot. I once read that the average American family goes through about six. That seems hard to believe, but I have to admit my own family was well on its way to that before we got our first Peg Perego stroller, a  Pliko P3, earlier this year. When we got it, I confidently declared that it would be the last stroller we’d ever need.

That’s the great thing about Peg Perego. The quality is so amazing that their strollers last for years. We’ve gotten notes from customers who are still using their strollers after years and years, and sometimes, even decades.

But now I do want another stroller, the Pliko Mini, and here’s why…

New for 2011, the Mini is a streamlined version of its older brother, the beloved, classic Pliko P3. It’s a traditional umbrella stroller, but there’s nothing traditional about it.

I love that Peg Perego was able to get so many features—like a reclining backrest with three different positions, an adjustable leg rest, and a full hood with peek-a-boo window—into a small umbrella stroller. I tested it out (for “Ciao, Mondo!”) with both of my children—Maddie, who is nearly 5 (the Pliko Mini can be used for children all the way up to 45 pounds), and Jack, who is just 16 months—and thanks to all the adjustable features, it fit both of them perfectly.

I also really loved how easy it was to push, thanks to its suspension wheels and telescoping handles. Plus, at just 19 1/4″ wide, 40 1/6″ high, and 33 1/3″ deep, the Mini easily fits through even the tightest of spaces—through crowds, between parked cars, and even in small elevators.

But what really sold me was its compact fold. When folded, the Pliko Mini is just 37 1/2″ in height by 13 1/2″ in width, so it doesn’t take up my entire front hall closet, or my trunk, which is where I intend to keep mine.

Test Drive: Pliko Switch Compact

For the next review in our “Test Drive” series, I thought I would switch things up and try out the Peg Perego Pliko Switch Compact. With its reversible seat, I’ve recommended this infant-to-toddler stroller dozens and dozens of times to other families, so I was looking forward to trying it out with my own.

What sets the Pliko Switch Compact apart from other strollers is its reversible seat. The Switch seat easily removes from the stroller’s chassis and can be positioned to face forward or backward.

I wasn’t sure how my son, Jack, who’s already 15 months, would do making such a “switch.” He’s older now and seems to enjoy looking out at the world. But I have to say, we had the very best morning walking around our local outdoor mall facing one another. I found that I talked to him a lot more, and in return, got a lot more smiles, and even a few attempts at some new words. It was so nice to be out and about with him but feel like it was just he and I, exploring the world together.

Our day was made even better by the thoughtful features that come standard on the Switch, like the adult cup holder, telescoping handles, all-wheels suspension, and a large, practical storage basket. The zippered hood made the perfect sun canopy as the day got hotter. And when it was time to go home, I was impressed with the Switch’s one-hand umbrella fold, which can be done with the seat facing either direction.

So will I keep recommending the Switch? Absolutely! Especially to new and expectant parents, for all the features I mentioned above and the fact that the Switch’s seat can easily be transformed into a carriage, which I think is ideal for younger babies. (Plus, it’s travel system compatible.) It really is the perfect infant-to-toddler stroller!

Test Drive: 3 Things to Love about the Pliko P3

Finding the right stroller can be a daunting task. We understand. After all, we’re parents too.

We do our best with “Ciao, Mondo!” to tell you about all of our strollers and share with you how they might fit into your lifestyle. But don’t you sometimes just wish you could test them all out for yourself?

That gave us an idea … What if we tested them for you? Enter our new series, “Test Drive,” in which we’ll share our own experiences, as parents, with a variety of Peg Perego products. I wanted to start the series by sharing my experience with the stroller I use every day, the Pliko P3 Compact.

The Pliko P3 Compact is the first Peg Perego stroller I ever owned. And yes, it changed my life. Here’s why:

1. At first, it was the little things. In our official product description of the Pliko P3, we say that “it’s easy to fall in love with our compact, full-featured, easy-to-use stroller,” and I couldn’t agree more. With its handy, hinged child snack tray with cup holder, full hood with peek-a-boo window, and telescoping handles, for me, it was love at first sight. And, I fall in love a little bit deeper every time I go to close it. The one–hand compact umbrella fold is so quick, and so easy!

2. Then it was the rear footboard. When I had my second child, my oldest was three-and-a-half and she wasn’t too keen on giving up riding in the stroller. But when I showed her the rear footboard on the Pliko P3, she was thrilled to have her own “big-kid” spot to ride on. It’s especially great when she’s tired, or we’re in a crowded place and I want to keep her close.

3. And then the compliments started to flow. The Pliko P3 really does have it all, including style. I absolutely love its sleek design and color selections. I get compliments on it every time I take it out, and I’m always happy to tell people it’s a Peg Perego.

Mom Knows Best: Real Moms Review the Pliko P3 Compact

In honor of Mother’s Day, we at Peg Perego wanted to pay special tribute to moms everywhere by sharing what real moms are saying about some of our products.

First, we wanted to share a review from Dana at BabyElanDaily.com. This mother of three young boys, who is currently pregnant with her first girl (congratulations Dana!), has “a passion—and a weakness—for shopping for the hottest, must-have, luxe items.”

After more than 10 years with one stroller, she tried and fell in LOVE with the Peg Perego Pliko P3 Compact. “I adore the compact design!” she writes. “It’s easy, no, amazingly simple to maneuver even with a heavy two year old in it…and did I mention it comes with a cup holder??”

She continues, “If you’re a new parent or parent-to-be with no experience in the stroller department, Peg Perego is a brand you’ll want to get behind for sure! Reliable, tested and proven by moms all over, and with modern designs to die for, you’ll love them for years!”

You can Dana’s entire review here.

We also invite you to check out a review from Tanya at GrowingYourBaby.com. This mom of one “handsome little boy,” loved the Peg Perego Pliko P3 Compact for its fixed, five-point harness; abundant fabric options; extremely generous canopy; smaller, lightweight frame; and built-in rear footboard.

“Busy parents will appreciate that the Pliko P3 Compact features a one-hand fold,” Tanya writes. “It allows easy, quick closing and carrying, and being lightweight, it is the perfect stroller for traveling by air or public transportation.”

You can read Tanya’s entire review here.

We want to hear what you think of our products too! Post a comment,”like” us on Facebook, or send us an email at peregoservice@perego.com.

User Review: Duette SW

The following is the first of many User Reviews we have planned for the blog! So sit back and enjoy reading what other customers have to say about their Peg Perego purchases.

(Are you interested in writing a review? Send me a quick email!)

User Review: Duette SW

By Natalie Gubler

Duette-6r

The Duette SW

I am a parent of 1 year-old twins and a five year-old.  While we had always used Peg Perego products, I knew that the choice of a double stroller for the twins would ultimately determine how much and how often we got out of the house.  Having a stroller that allowed me to perform all baby duties on-the-go was key because I wanted to be able to easily get out of the house by myself with the babies.  I also wanted a stroller that truly treated both riders equally as far as the size and features of the seats.  In this review, I am going to try to focus on helpful information about the Duette not found on the Peg Perego website.  Hopefully this will be instructive!

The Duette performs more functions than you can dream up.  Examples:

  • It has a functioning steering wheel, which is not only unique, but makes it really simple to steer and push with just one hand.  Even when heavily laden.  I cannot stress this enough:  it rolls and steers like a dream, even one-handed.  I do this while grocery shopping with my twins as I pull the shopping cart behind me.  No problem.  Seriously.  Even at Costco.  In fact, I find that my lightweight Maclaren side-by-side requires far more energy to push and maneuver than does the Duette.  (Note that the Peg Perego Skate diaper bag connects and hangs perfectly on this stroller, as do most other diaper bags).

BabyGizmo GT3 ForTwo Video!

I’ve got another video review to share! Hollie Schultz of BabyGizmo.com put together a good review of the GT3 ForTwo.

Just as a refresher, the GT3 ForTwo is an updated version of our GT3 stroller (not available in the US). It’s designed for an all-terrain lifestyle and can accommodate two riders. The two unique features about the GT3 ForTwo that set it apart from many of its competitors are:

1)     It folds with the rear seat intact, and

2)     It accommodates a rider in the rear seat even when the front seat is in travel system-mode.

Any thoughts or comments on the GT3 ForTwo? Let me know!

Video Reviews! Skate System & Jumper Seat

Hollie Schultz of BabyGizmo.com just got done reviewing the 2010 Skate System and its Jumper Seat accessory!

The Skate System

Just to catch everyone up, the Skate System is our ultimate luxury stroller. It’s a three-piece unit that has carriage and stroller modes, plus a bassinet that may be used indoors. Some significant changes were made to the 2010 model, which is why this new review differs from the review Hollie did of the original Skate.

The Jumper Seat

The Jumper Seat is an accessory to the Skate System. Now available in-stores and online, the Jumper Seat transforms the Skate System into a stroller for two!

Please feel free to comment or email with any questions!
