Peg Perego 2012 Pliko Mini

Ideal for travel or as an everyday stroller, the Pliko Mini is the perfect combination of practicality and style.

Introduced just this year (in 2011), this already-popular, full-featured umbrella stroller is lightweight, folds compactly, and maneuvers with ease. And for 2012, this new favorite will keep all of its great features and continue to come in four vibrant colors—Aloe, Fire, Iron, and Neon—that are sure to make the Pliko Mini a continued top pick for the new year.

All four color collections look great on the stylish Mini. Aloe, a bright green, and Fire, a true red, make a stylish statement, while Iron, a striking charcoal, is both classic and timely. Neon, a black/neon multi stripes combination, is another that is sure to turn heads.

But the Mini isn’t all about looks…A streamlined version of its older brother, the beloved classic Pliko P3, the Pliko Mini weighs in at just 13 pounds but still has all the features you’ve come to expect from Peg Perego:

  • Easy, one-hand fold that stands alone
  • Three-position backrest (reclines more than 150 degrees!)
  • Two-position leg rest
  • Telescoping adjustable handles
  • Generous canopy with window
  • Side carrying handle
  • Lockable front swivel wheels
  • Adult cup holder

The Pliko Mini is a great choice for families on the go. At just 19 1/4″ wide, 40 1/6″ high, and 33 1/3″ deep, there’s not a single train platform or jetway where the Pliko Mini will fail to move with agility. And the Mini is a great everyday stroller too. With its astonishingly compact folded dimensions—just 37 1/2″ high by 13 1/2″ wide by 13″deep, it will easily fit into even the most crowded of trunks, making it the must-have take along for running quick trips and errands.

Test Drive: Pliko Mini

How many strollers do you have? Working for a baby gear company, that’s a question I get a lot. I once read that the average American family goes through about six. That seems hard to believe, but I have to admit my own family was well on its way to that before we got our first Peg Perego stroller, a  Pliko P3, earlier this year. When we got it, I confidently declared that it would be the last stroller we’d ever need.

That’s the great thing about Peg Perego. The quality is so amazing that their strollers last for years. We’ve gotten notes from customers who are still using their strollers after years and years, and sometimes, even decades.

But now I do want another stroller, the Pliko Mini, and here’s why…

New for 2011, the Mini is a streamlined version of its older brother, the beloved, classic Pliko P3. It’s a traditional umbrella stroller, but there’s nothing traditional about it.

I love that Peg Perego was able to get so many features—like a reclining backrest with three different positions, an adjustable leg rest, and a full hood with peek-a-boo window—into a small umbrella stroller. I tested it out (for “Ciao, Mondo!”) with both of my children—Maddie, who is nearly 5 (the Pliko Mini can be used for children all the way up to 45 pounds), and Jack, who is just 16 months—and thanks to all the adjustable features, it fit both of them perfectly.

I also really loved how easy it was to push, thanks to its suspension wheels and telescoping handles. Plus, at just 19 1/4″ wide, 40 1/6″ high, and 33 1/3″ deep, the Mini easily fits through even the tightest of spaces—through crowds, between parked cars, and even in small elevators.

But what really sold me was its compact fold. When folded, the Pliko Mini is just 37 1/2″ in height by 13 1/2″ in width, so it doesn’t take up my entire front hall closet, or my trunk, which is where I intend to keep mine.

The Peg Perego Vela

vela-300pxFor the out and about, light-traveling family who prefers a more traditional look and feel, we present a new product for 2010: the Vela (VAY-lah).

Steering and maneuverability are the Vela’s star features, thanks to the three, larger wheels that turn on a dime and streamline movement. But it’s the single handle bar, book fold, and Ganciomatic Travel System-capabilities that truly set it apart from other strollers in the Peg Perego line. Both the book fold and the single handlebar are more traditional features, highly valued by many families, while the inclusion of Ganciomatic hooks ensure the Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 car seat will snap directly into the stroller seat.

And, at only 9.5 pounds, it’s the lightest stroller in our 2010 collection!

Fast facts:

  • Travel System-compatible
  • Three-wheel design
  • Larger wheels for enhanced steering and maneuverability
  • Compact book fold stands alone when folded
  • One hand fold
  • Hinged snack tray with duel cup holders
  • Large storage basked
  • Included adult cup holder
  • 9.5 pounds

The Vela will be available in February/March in four colors: Lavanda (edit: No longer available 12/09), Java, Tropical, Kiwi and Pepper. Please check with your local retailer for availability.

2010 Fabric Collection – Limited Edition

Designed in what could be considered the fashion capital of the world, Milan, Italy, Peg Perego’s fabric collection is always a direct reflection of the coming year’s trends, colors, and styles. The 2010 collection is no exception.

The entire collection is broken up into six sub-collections: elegance, soft reversible, active, fashion, leather, and limited edition. Each is designed to reflect the taste and lifestyle of a different user in a trendy and fashionable way.

As the weeks progress, we’ll take a deeper look into each sub-collection, and how that assortment of colors and patterns may appeal to different users. But for now, here’s a look at our limited edition, Gala:

For the parent who believes cutting edge trends should work for everyday style, Peg Perego presents Gala—a perfectly plaid fabric, comfortable enough for the smallest of trend-setters.

2010 Peg Perego products in Limited Edition Gala. Clockwise, starting from top left: Pliko Switch stroller, Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 infant car seat, Pliko P3 stroller, and Uno stroller.

Plaid is back, appearing on runways and store mannequins from Paris to New York. Inspired by this trend, Gala portrays plaid in a chic, modern way. Silver-gray lines criss-cross over a black background, downplaying the busyness that is typical of plaid, yet giving it a fresh, urban feel.

The Gala collection will be available on the Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30, Uno, Pliko Switch, and Pliko P3.

Check back next week for a look at our new, soft reversible fabrics for the Pliko P3, Uno and Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30!
