Important Safety Message Regarding Older Model Venezia and Pliko P3 Strollers
At Peg Perego, your child’s safety is our top priority. That’s why today we want to share with you some important information about a voluntary recall involving some of our older model Venezia and Pliko P3 strollers.
This voluntary recall only involves Venezia and Pliko P3 models that were manufactured from January 2004 through September 2007. Only these models manufactured and sold in the United States are subject to the recall.
With the affected models there is the potential risk of entrapment and strangulation to small children, especially to infants younger than 12 months of age who are not properly secured in the stroller’s harness and left unattended. All Peg Perego strollers, even those mentioned in this safety notice, are equipped with a safety harness that should be properly used at all times to avoid risk of entrapment and strangulation.
This voluntary recall is in response to two separate incidents in which a child became trapped between the stroller seat and stroller tray, resulting in one death in 2004. Peg Perego was not notified at the time of this incident, but only many years later.
The stroller models that have been voluntarily recalled were manufactured prior to the existence of a January 2008 voluntary industry standard that addresses the height of the opening between the stroller’s tray and seat bottom. This voluntary standard requires larger stroller openings that prevent infant entrapment and strangulation hazards. All Peg Perego strollers manufactured after 2007 meet these new requirements.
Once again, this recall involves only late model Venezia and Pliko P3 strollers that were manufactured from January 2004 through September 2007.
Consumers can check the child tray on their Pliko P3 or Venezia. Only strollers that have a child tray with one cup holder are part of this recall. Strollers with a bumper bar or a tray with two cup holders are not included in this recall. Also, the stroller’s manufacture date can be found on a white label on the back of the Pliko P3 stroller seat and on the Venezia stroller footboard.

If you own a stroller that is affected by this voluntary recall, there is no need to return your product. Peg Perego will provide a repair kit containing an additional passive containment bib free of charge upon request.

As a final note, please remember when using a stroller, always properly secure children by using the safety harness and never leave them unattended.

what about the centro completo? I have one manufactured in 2006…
I have the Perego P3, I cannot locate the manufacturers sticker. Is there anywhere in the stroller itself that it is printed on plastic? Or any other way to determine the manfacture date without the sticker that is supposed to be on the back of the seat?
Hi Andrea,
The Centro Completo stroller is not affected by this voluntary recall.
Thank you for your question,
Erica
Hi Janine,
Can you try looking beneath the fabric wings on the backrest? If this does not help, please contact us at service@pegperego.com or call 1-800-671-1701.
Thank you for your question,
Erica
Hi Erica,
I have the Pliko P3 as well and there is no date that I can tell printed anywhere on the wings. The only numbers I see on the wings are 54 04 17 and 120043 Arcore (MI). The stroller does have the single cup holder and was purchased in the time period of concern. What should I do?
Hello:
My pliko P3 does not have an exact date just a month/year. However, your form requires we enter a day as well. I submitted my request anyway and just fudged the day.. I hope that was OK.
Also my white sticker was on the plastic under the “wing” on the backrest.
thanks,
Jen
Hi Jen,
Thank you for letting us know about your stroller. As long as the other information is correct, then everything will be fine. We are seeing the sticker show up in a few different places, so thank you for sharing where you found yours, as it will help when we speak with others.
Best regards,
Erica
Hi Catherine,
I am going to send you an email with further instructions.
Thank you,
Erica
I am also unable to locate the information on the stroller. I have an orange & tan Pliko P-3 with 1 cup holder. If anyone knows of other possible sticker or tag locations on the stroller, that would be a huge help!
I am also concerned about the size of the leg holes on the Passive Containment Bib. I have a 2 year old who is not average sized due to medical problems. I’m worried that his legs may be too chubby to fit in the holes & we won’t be able to use our favorite & only stroller with the fix. Can you tell me how big the holes are? His thighs are 15 inches around.
Thank you for the help!
Hello!
I have a Plicko Switch Compact model bought in May 2011, started using it in Aug 24, 2011 when my baby was born. I recently noticed the back support was uneven and found out that one of the core back columns is broken. It fully cracked in two pieces. I did some research about the warranty and it says it only covers manufacturing defects for one year. I don’t know if this applies, it looks more like a material defect since everything else is intact (in perfect shape) the product in general seems really solid. Not sure if it can be fixed all I know is that it impairs the stability of the back of the sit. Please advice, i really, really like the product.
My white sticker was on the back of the left wing of the back rest. There were two white stickers and it was the lower one that had the manufacture month and year.
I have a pliko 3 stroller with the single cup holder from the affected time period. I live in canada and the form will only alow United States to be selected. Any advice?
Hi Erica,
I have the Pliko P3 from 2005 with the single cup holder, so I have filled out the form online to request the containment bib repair kit. How long does it usually take to ship to California?
Thanks!
Trinh
Hi Cody,
Thank you for your question. You can order a repair kit for the Pliko P3 through the Canadian customer service (info@pegperego.on.ca; 1 (800) 661-5050).
Thanks again,
Erica
Hi Liz,
I have passed on your information directly to our customer service and they should be in contact with you very shortly.
Thank you,
Erica
Hi Stephanie,
Thank you for your questions, especially about the leg hole openings on the Passive Containment Bib. To answer the first, please check the backrest or left the wings of the fabric to view the backrest from the forward position for the manufacture date. If you continue to have trouble locating this information, please email me at onlineassociate@pegperego.com and I will further assist you.
Regarding your question on the Passive Containment Bib, please see below for information from our quality and compliance manager:
The opening is 3 and 1/2 inches across. Here are some key points to remember:
1. The tragic incidents that triggered the recall were infants that were not strapped in and unattended. So the primary concern is infants who are not strapped in.
2. The strollers under recall meet the safety standards and if a caregiver is using the seat belts the baby is safe. The passive restraint is an added layer of protection in case the baby is not strapped in.
3. If your Pliko has 1 cup holder it does qualify–you don’t need to worry about finding the exact date of manufacture.
4. If he can’t fit into the passive restraint, a possible “workaround” would be to be sure he is strapped in and remove the tray.
Thanks again,
Erica
Hi,
I Have a P3 with the single cup holder, and a Model number IPP328US10 which is in the recall list – but according to the label it was manufactured 26/11/2003 which is before the dates on the recall.
Is this stroller included in the recall?
Ruth
I have the Peg Perego Pliko P3 purchases in the summer of 2006 brand new. It has 1 cup holder. I have looked at it 3 times and cannot find the manufacture date. I see reg no CA 34197 and 63C3438.
Hi Megha,
Please check your email for further directions.
Thank you!
Erica
Hi Ruth,
Although they were manufactured in 2003, that particular model number was included in the 2004 collection. You can use that date to register on our website, and we will send you a free repair kit.
Thank you for your question,
Erica
Hi Trinh,
Thanks so much for your question. Since you are located on the west coast, I would estimate that it would be approximately 2-3 weeks before your repair kit will arrive. Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with.
Thanks again,
Erica
I have a Peg Perego Venezia manufactured in March 2003, but purchased in 2004. The serial number is BP41TV41. Would this stoller be part of the recall?
Hi Ann,
Thank you for your question. While your stroller was not involved in this recall, we can go ahead and send you a repair kit if you wish to have one. Please just fill out the information with your manufacture date. We would like to stress that the stroller can still be used without the safety kit as long as the child is strapped in the harness and under adult supervision.
Thanks again for your question,
Erica
Hi! Where can I get a harness for my Pliko? The straps are gone. Please, Erica…hellp!!
Thank you
Ana
Hi Anna,
You can order a harness for your Pliko through our customer service (service@pegperego.com or 1-800-671-1701).
Thanks and feel free to let me know if you have any other questions!
Erica
